Yard Porter/Detailer in Hayden Lake, Idaho at Southern Marinas LLC

Position Summary
The Yard Porter helps keep the marina's boat yard, storage areas, and docks safe, organized, and running smoothly. This role supports daily operations by moving, washing, and prepping boats, assisting customers, and maintaining the grounds. It's a good fit for someone who enjoys being outdoors and on the water, works well on a team, and takes pride in a clean, well-run facility.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with launching and retrieving boats, and help customers at the ramp, docks, and fuel station
Move boats and trailers around the yard and storage areas, following safety procedures
Wash, detail, and prep customer boats for pickup or storage
Help with seasonal tasks such as winterization prep, shrink wrap, and spring commissioning support
Keep the yard, shop areas, docks, and restrooms clean, organized, and free of hazards
Handle lines and fenders, and assist with docking and undocking
Fuel boats as trained
Stage, load, and unload parts, supplies, and equipment
Support technicians and the service department with basic tasks as needed
Greet customers courteously and answer or route their questions
Report damage, safety concerns, and maintenance needs promptly
Follow all marina safety rules, environmental standards (including fuel and spill procedures), and company policies
Qualifications
Required
Must be at least 18 years of age
Valid driver's license and a clean driving record
Pass required background check
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
Reliable, punctual, and willing to work weekends and holidays during peak season
Strong work ethic and ability to follow instructions and work independently
Friendly, professional communication with customers and coworkers
Preferred
Prior experience in a marina, boat yard, or similar setting
Boating experience and comfort handling boats, lines, and docks
Experience operating forklifts, trailers, or willingness to be trained and certified
Basic knowledge of boat care and cleaning
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and carry up to [50] lbs regularly
Frequent standing, walking, bending, climbing, and kneeling for extended periods
Comfortable working on and around the water, on docks, and on ladders
Ability to work in heat, cold, rain, and wind
Working Conditions
Primarily outdoor work in a marina and boat yard environment. Hours may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, with the busiest period typically in the summer boating season. Personal protective equipment is required for certain tasks, and a life jacket is required when working on docks.
