Job Description
We are seeking a Activities Shuttle Driver (Per Diem) to join our Life Enrichment team and play a key role in bringing joy, independence, and connection to the residents we serve. 📍 Location: 462 Grider Street Buffalo, NY
🏥 Department: Life Enrichment / Activities
🕒 Shift: Per Diem | Variable schedule with outings planned and communicated months in advance. Most outings occur during daytime hours, with occasional evenings and weekends based on resident activity schedules. Minimum commitment is approximately 12 hours per month, with opportunities for additional hours as outings and transportation needs arise.
Job Duties
• Safely transport residents to and from scheduled community outings, recreational activities, and other approved off-site events using the facility's 12-passenger Ford shuttle bus.
• Assist residents with safe boarding and exiting of the vehicle, ensuring dignity and comfort at all times
• Secure wheelchairs, walkers, and other mobility devices in accordance with safety standards
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safe operating condition
• Maintain accurate transportation logs, mileage records, and incident/maintenance reports
• Maintain cleanliness of assigned vehicle and report maintenance or safety concerns promptly
• Communicate effectively with facility staff regarding schedules, delays, and resident needs during outings
• Follow all traffic laws, facility policies, and resident safety procedures at all times
Benefits: The hiring range is between $21.00 to $23.00* per hour. Additional benefits include paid sick time, 401(k) with a 3% employer match, and employee discounts!!
Qualifications
Education:
• High school diploma or equivalent, preferred
Experience:
• Prior experience transporting passengers, older adults, or individuals with mobility needs, preferred
• Experience operating passenger vans, shuttle buses, or similar vehicles, preferred
Licensure:
• Valid New York State Driver’s License, required (appropriate class for assigned vehicle)
• Clean driving record meeting facility and insurance requirements, required
Skills & Competencies:
• Strong and safe driving skills with knowledge of New York State traffic laws, required
• Ability to assist passengers with mobility needs in a safe and respectful manner, required
• Ability to safely secure wheelchairs and mobility equipment
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills when working with residents and staff
• Ability to remain calm, attentive, and safety-focused in dynamic environments
