Job Description

Electrical Quality Assurance Specialist

Reserve, LA (Headquarters) | Full-Time |

About DSC

DSC Dredge is a world leader in portable cutter suction dredges engineering and manufacturing equipment for aggregate mining and sand & gravel production, environmental remediation, coastal restoration, navigational maintenance, and marine construction across the U.S. and in more than 50 countries worldwide. We operate from our headquarters in Reserve, Louisiana and our manufacturing facility in Poplarville, Mississippi.

The Role

We are looking for an Electrical Quality Assurance Specialist to own quality across DSC’s electrical systems from incoming switchgear, transformers, and control panels to in-process wiring, terminations, and final functional testing. You will work alongside the Electrical Department, Engineering, and customers to ensure every dredge’s electrical systems, including installations up to 12VDC TO 13.8kV, meet national and international electrical codes, DSC Standards, and project contract requirements.

What You Will Do
  • Inspect and participate in testing of electrical equipment — switchgear, transformers, motors, control panels, and conduit/cable systems for conformance with drawings, schematics, specifications, and National Electrical Code.
  • Verification of materials, connections, grounding, lugs and torque.
  • Participate in electrical testing including, but not limited to insulation resistance, continuity, hi-pot, VLF, Ducter and functional tests on electrical components and systems ahead of final testing and product release.
  • Initiate and run internal quality checks on electrical components throughout dredge assembly, assisting Engineering and the Electrical Department during final testing
  • Review electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, schematics, and as-builts for conformance with installation practice and design intent
  • Troubleshoot and document electrical malfunctions identified during inspection, and coordinate corrective action with the Electrical Department
  • Maintain compliance with applicable electrical codes and safety regulations (NEC, NETA, IEEE) used in the dredging industry, including systems from 12VDC to 13.8kV.
  • Organize, maintain, and track electrical inspection progress against the Inspection & Test Plan (ITP), travelers, check sheets, forms, and logs
  • Coordinate, witness, and write detailed inspection reports covering electrical inspections, NDE, pressure testing, and non-conformance (NCR)
  • Liaise with customers’ auditors, manage corrective action, and ensure compliance with customer specifications for electrical systems
  • Maintain electrical inspection and test records for all departmental machinery and distribution systems
What You Bring
  • Electrical Certification from Vocational School and/or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5–7 years of quality assurance or electrical inspection experience, ideally in industrial, marine, or heavy equipment manufacturing
  • Working knowledge of electrical codes and standards (NEC, NETA, IEEE) and experience with high-voltage systems (up to 24-12K volts)
  • Experience with electrical test instruments (multimeters, insulation resistance testers, hi-pot testers) and the ability to interpret electrical schematics and drawings
  • NETA certification preferred, structural and mechanical experience a bonus.
  • Working knowledge of Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO), arc flash, and electrical safety procedures
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present to customers and cross-functional teams
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Willingness to travel as required from Reserve, LA to Poplarville, MS as required.
Why DSC
  • Every dredge’s electrical system is different — from control panels to high-voltage distribution keeping the inspection work varied and technically engaging
  • Direct, visible impact — your electrical test sign-offs and NCR decisions are what stand behind equipment operating in the field across the U.S. and more than 50 countries
  • A business at record production levels — sustained demand means career stability and a steady pipeline of substantive electrical quality work
  • Real ownership — you drive electrical compliance, inspection, and release decisions directly with customers, auditors, and the Electrical Department
  • Close collaboration with Engineering, the Electrical Department, and production teams, in a company small enough that your expertise is recognized and your work matters
Compensation and Benefits
  • Salary commensurate with experience
  • Health, dental, vision insurance & short-term disability
  • Company-paid basic life insurance & long-term disability
  • 401k retirement plan with company match
  • Paid time off and company holidays
  • Support for relevant certifications, such as NETA or CWI, including examination fees, study resources, and continuing education
  • Relocation support available
Work Environment

This role splits time between the office and the manufacturing floor, with regular presence during electrical fabrication, installation, and testing activities. You’ll work around energized equipment, moving mechanical parts, and industrial operations, and may be exposed to noise, risk of electrical shock, and outdoor conditions during site visits, audits, or witnessed testing. Occasional travel to supplier, vendor, or customer sites should be expected.

Our Values

Quality. Innovation. Service. Commitment. Customization.

These are the commitments that guide how we work and how we serve our customers — delivering on-spec, on time, with industry leading engineering precision for which DSC is known.
