Job Description
JOB SUMMARY:
Garden State Laboratories, Inc. is seeking a full-time Wet Chemistry Supervisor who will report to the Laboratory Manager located in the Waretown, NJ laboratory. The Wet Chemistry Supervisor will be responsible for coordinating all functions of the Wet Chemistry department as determined by management. Work will include all aspects of the Wet Chemistry laboratory operation from researching new methods, providing guidance, leadership and training of laboratory personnel on routine testing methodologies, assisting in revising SOPS, ordering supplies, preparing laboratory reports, assisting in the analysis of tests when needed, and reviewing laboratory data and results to ensure they meet the regulatory requirements.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinating laboratory analyses.
- Training current and newly employed staff on assigned analytical testing.
- Supervising in-house chain-of-custody.
- Scheduling sample analyses.
- Overseeing analytical data review and reporting.
- Approving final analytical reports prior to submission.
- Performing an Annual Departmental Management System Review.
- Certifying personnel with appropriate educational and/or technical background who perform tests for which the laboratory is accredited.
- Monitoring standards of performance in quality control and quality assurance.
- Monitoring the validity of the analyses performed and data generated in the laboratory to ensure reliable data.
- Ensuring that the department has enough qualified personnel to perform laboratory work.
- Performing final review of all analytical results before they are released for printing.
- Performing/ overseeing all quarterly and annual calibrations of instruments, thermometers and pH meters.
- Preparing and revising Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the department when needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical, physical, biological, or environmental science from an accredited institution and at least one year of laboratory experience in the chemical analysis of drinking water, non-potable water, solid and chemical materials, air and/or emissions, or biological tissue samples in a regulated environment.
OR
- Associate degree in chemical, physical, biological, or environmental science from an accredited institution and three years of laboratory experience in the chemical analysis of drinking water, non-potable water, solid and chemical materials, air and/or emissions, or biological tissue samples in a regulated environment.
OR
- Five years of laboratory experience in the chemical analysis of drinking water, non-potable water, solid and chemical materials, air and/or emissions, or biological tissue samples in a regulated environment.
- Be conversant with current chemical testing methodologies such Standard Methods and USEPA.
