About This Position
Paint and Body Prep & Finish Technician
National Indoor RV Centers is experiencing exceptional growth, and we are seeking a Paint and Body Prep & Finish Technician to join our team! The Prep Technician is responsible for ceramic coating installations, prepping damaged RVs for paint & body work, and buffing and waxing after repairs are complete. They must have knowledge of different types of body construction and be able to use various tools and materials to repair and restore vehicles to their original condition.
Key Responsibilities:
· Inspect damaged RVs and assess the extent of repairs needed.
· Repair RV body damage using various tools and materials such as hammers, grinders, and shop equipment.
· Ceramic coating installs
· Buffing and waxing after repairs are complete
· Maintain clean and organized workspace for safety and efficiency
· Driving vehicles for transport on lot
· Maintain and clean tools and equipment
· Assisting and learning from an experienced RV Paint & Body Technicians
· Able to work in a fast-paced team environment
· Comply with all NIRVC safety rules, guidelines, and standards
· Learn to Repair vehicles thoroughly, safely, and profitably in a manner consistent with NIRVC and industry guidelines/standards
· Learn to complete dis-assembly of vehicle to assist Service Advisor with preparing a 100% Repair Plan
· Learn to identify all needed repairs to eliminate supplements and minimize repair time
· Learn how to read work order for all operations listed
· Learn to remove upholstery, accessories, electrical and hydraulic window and seat operating equipment and trim to gain access to damaged area of RV if needed
· Store parts on carts or bins or to eliminate potential damage
· Learn to mend damaged body and fenders by hammering out or filling in dents and welding broken parts; ensure all gaps and fits are to industry standards
· Learn the use of hand and power tools (e.g., welder, soldering equipment, cutting torch, blocks, hammers, wrenches, sander, spray guns, etc.)
· Learn how to Fill depressions with body filler
· Learn to remove damaged fenders, panels and grills; and bolts or welds replacement parts in position and reassemble after parts are painted; ensure all gaps and fills are to industry standards
· Learn to file, grind, and sand repaired surfaces with 120-grit paper
· Perform other related duties as assigned including, but not limited to washing cars, cleaning the shop, assisting other teammates, etc.
· Learn how to read paint codes and mix paint according to paint codes
· Learn how to apply paint to RVs in accordance with NIRVC paint standard
· Maintain other duties as assigned or requested
Qualifications:
· At least (6) six months Prior experience in RV or automotive body repair preferred.
· Skilled in using various tools and materials such as hammers, grinders, and shop equipment.
· Knowledge of paint mixing and matching techniques.
· Good physical condition with the ability to lift heavy equipment and stand for extended periods of time.
§ Attention to detail and a commitment to quality work.
§ Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and maintain an acceptable driving record
Working Conditions:
• Work is primarily conducted on-site at the service shop
• May require extended periods of standing, walking, and bending
• May require lifting or moving heavy equipment or objects
• May require working in tight spaces or at heights
• May require exposure to loud noises, fumes, or chemicals
• May require working weekends or holidays
