About This Position

Boos & Associates is growing, we were recently named one of the Fastest Growing Accounting Firms and Businesses in the Fresno area by the Fresno Business Journal. That growth has led us to expand to different markets, and we are in need of an Associate to join our Turnaround & Restructuring team. This role is open to candidates located in Madera, Fresno- CA and New York.

What you will do:

The T&R Associate is responsible for utilizing your educational background as well as your organizational skills as you serve the firm's dynamic client base in addressing complex questions and issues under the direction of a Senior. You will assist in problem solving and fact-finding, working side-by-side with T&R Seniors, Managing Directors and Directors.

  • Review historical financial statements and other information to understand causes of the bankruptcy filing or financial difficulties.
  • Identify the key financial indicators/measures related to an organization or industry.
  • Draft reports and presentation materials to present financial information in a meaningful manner.
  • Prepare and/or review cash flow projections (short and long-term).
  • Review actual weekly and monthly results compared with projections.
  • Prepare and/or review a Business Plan for the restructuring of the Company.
  • Classify claims and interests for a Reorganization Plan.
  • Prepare various spreadsheets summarizing and highlighting various agreements and court filings, including Debtor-in-Possession financings, management compensation agreements, and liquidation analyses.
  • Prepare written proposal packages for new engagements, including analyzing industry, competitors, financial performance, and preparing computerized graphs and charts.
  • Create a library of reference materials from recent cases worked to provide a centralized depository for sample schedules and reports generated in previous cases.
  • Other duties as required.

Turnaround/Restructuring

  • Collaborates with debtor clients in restructuring the client’s businesses in and out of Chapter 11
  • Assists with refinancing efforts and sale transactions
  • Assists clients with downsizing operations, and meeting operational and financial goals
  • Assists creditors with obtaining the most favorable distribution of assets from companies undergoing formal bankruptcy proceedings or informal workouts
  • Evaluates management to determine ability to operate and reorganize
  • Ensures compliance with all court filing requirements under a formal proceeding
  • Investigates transactions with insiders, financial institutions and other creditors to determine causes of action
  • Assists engagement leaders with financial, operational, and strategic oversight and responsibility in a distressed interim financial management capacity
  • Supports growth strategy and performance improvement plan implementation in a distressed environment

What you bring to the role:

  • Bachelors degree in a Business (Accounting, Finance, Management, etc.) or Economics.
  • Accounting based internship preferred.
  • Leadership experience preferred.
  • CPA License, plus.
  • Ability to read and understand basic financial statements.
  • Good analytical thinking ability and strong writing report writing skills.
  • Software: High proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, require

    • Solid organizational skills especially ability to meet project deadlines with a focus on details
    • Ability to successfully multi-task while working independently or within a group environment
    • Excellent research abilities
    • Proven ability to work in a deadline-driven environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously
    • Capable of effective managing a team of professionals and delegating work assignments as needed
    • Capacity to build and maintain strong relationships with client personnel
    • Willingness to travel as required
    • Ability to successfully interact with professionals at all levels, inside and outside of Boos, including attorneys, financial advisors, clients and prospects
    • Superior interpersonal, communication, marketing, sales and organizational skills
    • Working knowledge of bankruptcy and insolvency process

License/Certifications:

    • CIRA and/or CTP designation, preferred
    • CPA license, plus
    • Software: High proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, required

Compensation Information: Individual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.
