Job Title: Postdoctoral Research Scientist - Artificial Intelligence in Medicine
Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Postdoctoral Research Scientist to join the Computational Pathology & AI Center of Excellence (CPACE) at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. This position will play a vital role in driving high-quality outcomes in artificial intelligence in medicine, with a focus on large language models, natural language processing (NLP), and vision-language modeling. Working under the guidance of Dr. Hooman Rashidi, Executive Director of CPACE, the successful candidate will drive impactful research and innovation at the intersection of artificial intelligence and healthcare, working collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to design, implement, and optimize AI functions that align with end-user and clinical needs.
Responsibilities:
* Will lead and pioneer the research and development of AI methodologies and solutions specifically designed to address healthcare | ||||||||||||
challenges. | ||||||||||||
* Execute both qualitative and quantitative studies to evaluate the effectiveness and potential of AI tools in clinical and | ||||||||||||
translational medicine. | ||||||||||||
* Work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team, comprising experts in computer science, healthcare and clinical research, | ||||||||||||
to design, implement and optimize AI functions that align with end-user and clinical needs. | ||||||||||||
* Disseminate research findings through publications in top-tier, peer-reviewed journals and presentations at renowned | ||||||||||||
scientific and industry conferences. | ||||||||||||
* Support grant proposal preparation and actively participate in progress reporting to funding bodies. | ||||||||||||
* Mentor and guide graduate students or junior researchers involved in related projects, fostering a collaborative research | ||||||||||||
environment. | ||||||||||||
Requirements: | ||||||||||||
* PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Health Informatics or a related field. | ||||||||||||
* Strong expertise in AI, large language models, NLP, vision-language modeling or associated technologies, | ||||||||||||
with demonstrated application in healthcare or biomedical domains. | ||||||||||||
* Proven ability to work both independently and as a team player within a multidisciplinary research environment. | ||||||||||||
* Effective written and verbal communication skills, with a history of scientific publications and conference presentations. | ||||||||||||
* Experience in vision-language models, multimodality learning, and foundation models is highly desirable. | ||||||||||||
Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in artificial intelligence, with experience working in healthcare or biomedical domains. They will be able to work independently and collaboratively, with effective written and verbal communication skills. Experience in vision-language models, multimodality learning, and foundation models.
