CHMC-Cancer Treatment Center-Oncology Coordinator-Full Time- Day Shift-Primary Shift 7a-3p- Req 7554

The Oncology Coordinator coordinates chemotherapy activities within the Cancer Treatment Center, develops patient calendars and works 1:1 with the patient to ensure they are aware of and able to manage their schedule. Works collaboratively with the patient and center social services coordinator to identify and accommodate all patient and facility needs. Analyses and organizes flow of patients, oversees insurance coverage and authorization of infusions, obtains charts, schedules infusion patients, reviews information in medical reconciliation sheet and other clerical services, works collaboratively with the providers and nursing staff. This position is also responsible for assisting in/oversight of Survivorship Plans and Acknowledgement Letters for Physicians. Determines what patients need blood work and check that each test passes medical necessity.

EDUCATION:

Required:

• High School graduate or equivalent

TRAINING and EXPERIENCE:

Required:

• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel with ability to learn electronic medical records.

Preferred:

• Must have clerical or secretarial experience, preferably in a hospital or Oncology Information Center

• Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred

• Knowledge of chemotherapy regimens and scheduling is preferred

• Knowledge of and experience with insurance and obtaining prior authorizations is preferred

• Knowledge of Meditech and ARIA preferred.
