Job Description
The Advanced Phlebotomy Tech is responsible for; providing phlebotomy, including but not limited to bleeding times and Blood Cultures, for patients as directed according to established standards and practices, and assisting the Outpatient Imaging Technologists with daily operations. This position provides clinical support to professional staff for basic nursing care including venipuncture under supervision of Radiologist, Registered Nurse, and Radiologic Technologist. This position is responsible for proper function of all ancillary equipment. This position is responsible for assisting with quality improvement programs. Demonstrates knowledge of the psychological needs, clinical assessment implications, and/or consequences of technology upon all age groups of customers. In emergent situations, this position is responsible for assisting to determine the nature and extent of illness or injury and establish priority for required emergency care. These personnel work within the confines of the Outpatient Imaging Center. Other duties as assigned.
Education: High School Diploma or GED required. BLS required within 3 months of hire.
Experience: Phlebotomy Certification required. Emergency Medical Technician Intermediate or Paramedic required. Successful completion of EMT-IV Course at minimum. Certified in the State of Tennessee by Department of Health Division of Emergency Medical Services.
