Position Summary
- The Biomed Equipment Technician Team Leader is an individual who is knowledgeable about the theory of operation, the underlying physiologic principles and the practical, safe clinical application of biomedical equipment. Capabilities include installation, calibration, inspection, preventive maintenance and repair of general and sophisticated biomedical and related technical equipment. Under general supervision of the Manager of Biomedical Operations responsible for co-ordination and supervision of daily activities that relate to Biomedical Operations. Provides training on all new procedures and departmental orientation. Duties also include monitoring of productivity, quality of repairs and services, all in accordance with Federal , State and local guidelines and JCAHO Standards. All Hospital and departmental polices and procedures will be followed. The Supervisor is responsible for performing evaluations, with input and approval by the Manager. Performs counseling (verbal warnings only) of personnel. Reflects the general duties considered necessary to describe the principal functions of the job as identified, and shall not be considered as a detailed description of all the work requirements that may be inherent in the job. Communicates all activies to the Manager.

Core Job Functions
- Completes assigned preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance, ensuring that all work is properly documented. Organizes work teams to complete complex tasks, assignments, and special projects that relate to personal space and shop common areas, and replenishing parts and shop supplies
- Ensures technicians are attending to their assigned duties and meeting the requirements of their pertinent key results and fills in for manager where needed as directed. Randomly audits documentation and electronic records to ensure accuracy and completeness. Functions as a preceptor to new departmental employees, orienting them to departmental policies and procedures.
- Reviews IPM procedures and revise annually if needed. Observe manpower use and recommend changes when opportunities to improve processes or reviewed for changes when relevant standards are altered. Explores changes to documentation / record keeping processes that can produce operational efficiency and / or save staff time.
- Assist with managing TMS software. Ensures that electronic and hard-copy filing systems are organized and secure.
- Aids with ensuring that co-workers complete their performance evaluation requirements.
