About This Position

  • JOB SUMMARY
    • Responsible for the day to day organization and operation of diagnostic radiology by providing strong, consistent and effective leadership and quality control. Ensures compliance with patient care quality standards as it relates to the care provided to all age groups of patients ranging from newborn to elderly. Works effectively with Radiologist to establish and maintain procedure protocol, quality and safety. Assures competency of all x-ray personnel. Maintains staffing schedules for personnel under his/her supervision. Maintains efficient and effective department operation while requiring compliance with all JCAHO, state, federal and local regulatory laws, standards and protocols. Works with other hospital employees and managers to solve problems and effect appropriate services. Reports to and works with Department Director in writing and review of policies and procedures. Review and structure of the Radiology charge master for accuracy of codes and methods of charging. Process review and implementation, personnel records, statistics, service records, equipment purchases, materials management. Works with Director, section leaders and other staff members to maintain and improve the hospital information system. Departmental PI Activities. Shares PACS call with the PACS Administrator and maintains PACS system in the absence of the PACS Admin.
  • DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Demonstrates Competency in the Following Areas:
      • Education/Regulatory Requirements:
        • Graduation from an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology.
        • Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
        • Certified by the State of Mississippi to practice and administer radiation.
        • Current BCLS certification.
        • Some background in Imaging Services administration; experience such as Supervisor or Assistant Director of an Imaging Services department preferred.
        • At least five (5) active years in a department with diagnostic and special procedures experience.
        • Current membership and active participation in the Radiologic Technologist professional organization.
      • Skills:
        • Moderate to advanced computer and data entry skills.
        • Management and organization knowledge and skill.
        • Above average communication skills.
        • Broad clinical knowledge in all areas of Radiology.
        • Basic teaching skills.
