Medical Laboratory Scientist (Multiple Positions) in Hannibal, Missouri at Hannibal Regional Hospital

Job Duties:

• Perform routine automated, semi-automated and manual laboratory tests and procedures on blood and other body fluids related to Hematology, Chemistry, Immunology-Serology, Microscopy, Blood Banking and Microbiology.
• Perform pre-transfusion testing on patients and blood components.
• Perform automated and semi-automated serological tests to aid in the diagnosis of infectious disease.
• Perform routine staining, culture and sensitivity testing of microbiological specimens.
• Collect blood samples from a variety of patients required for laboratory testing.
• Perform routine maintenance and checkup on equipment and quality control reagents in Hematology, Chemistry, Immunology-Serology, Microscopy, Blood Banking and Microbiology.
• Keep accurate records of quality control, maintenance, inventory, and workload data.
• Accommodate patients and give detailed instructions on test preparation and proper after-care.
• Observe proper handling of specimen and safe disposal of biohazard waste.
• Responsible for the accuracy, interpretation and reporting of all test results according to laboratory policies.

Position Requirements:

• Position requires a Bachelor’s degree or higher or foreign equivalent in Medical Technology, or closely related field of study.
• The position requires 1 year (12 months) of experience as a Medical Technologist, Medical Laboratory Scientist, or closely related occupation performing relevant laboratory tests and procedures on blood and other body fluids. All experience may be gained concurrently.
