Position overview

The Shop Assistant will be responsible for maintaining a clean, organized parts warehouse, parts deliveries, shipping/receiving, inspecting, storing, and issuing parts and general supplies to vehicle maintenance repair staff; and inventory control to assist with our shop and parts teams. Safety and quality will be the upmost priority and shall be applied to all assigned duties.

Primary Responsibilities

• Safely dispense and/or deliver all part(s) request to mechanics and other branch locations.
• Check in and sign out parts, teeth, and consumables
• Ensure that we maintain a clean organized parts department and shop
• Performs other duties as assigned
• Perform inventory cycle counts
• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Ability to follow safe work practices and wear all required personal protection equipment for the task (safety glasses/shield, hardhat, safety boots and gloves)
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions
• Ability to perform heavy physical labor exposed to weather elements, noise, dust, and temperature extremes (hot/cold), and dirty/greasy environment
• Ability to operate computer and/or other related equipment
• Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions and deal with challenges/issues
• Must demonstrate strong ethics, interpersonal skills, and the ability to effectively manage stress and engage in continuous learning.
• Ability to absorb and retain formalized training
• Ability to work overtime if necessary

Education and Experience

• Must have a good driving record
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 2+ years of experience a plus
