The West Sacramento Parks and Recreation Department consists of four separate functions: a Parks Division, Recreation Division, Early Learning Services and Tree Program. The City of West Sacramento Parks & Recreation Department is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Customer Service and Wellness Recreation Coordinator to oversee customer engagement and support the fitness and wellness programs for the City of West Sacramento. This position offers a unique opportunity to enhance participant satisfaction, streamline operations, and play a vital role in delivering outstanding recreational services to our community.

Key Responsibilities:
• Manage the daily operations of the West Sacramento Recreation Center’s front desk, providing exceptional customer service for Parks & Recreation inquiries, assisting with program questions, registration, and addressing participant concerns.
• Coordinate the recruitment, training, and scheduling of customer service staff and contractors, fostering a positive and inclusive environment.
• Collaborate with the Recreation Center team to develop and distribute promotional materials, such as newsletters and social media content, to increase program visibility and community awareness.
• Monitor and manage customer feedback, using data to implement improvements in service quality and participant satisfaction.
• Coordinate fitness and recreation activities and events at the Recreation Center and throughout the city.

The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational and communication skills, a commitment to high-quality customer service, and experience in administrative support within a Parks & Recreation or similar community-focused setting. They should thrive in a dynamic environment, possess a problem-solving mindset, and be skilled at building positive relationships with participants, staff, and the public.

Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate the following:
• Customer Service Excellence: Proven experience in customer service roles, ideally within community services or recreation, demonstrating the ability to handle inquiries and resolve issues professionally and empathetically.
• Administrative Experience: Strong background in office administration, including data management, scheduling, and record-keeping to support efficient operations.
• Community Engagement: A track record of working collaboratively with diverse populations to create a welcoming environment and ensure participant satisfaction.
• Registration Systems: Proficiency in recreation management software, such as Sportsman or similar platforms, and experience handling registration and payment processing.
• Marketing and Outreach Skills: Ability to create and manage digital and print communications to inform and engage the community effectively.
• Resourceful Problem Solving: Capacity to address operational challenges and improve administrative processes in a creative and cost-effective manner.
• Knowledge of Exercise and Fitness Programs: Familiarity with various fitness and wellness programs, enabling better support for participants' needs and enhancing program awareness and promotion.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Education: High school diploma or equivalent and an AA/AS from an accredited college, with major coursework in recreation or a related field. Experience: One (1) year of increasingly responsible related experience. Supervisory experience preferred. Additional qualifying experience can substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES: Possession of a valid Class "3" or "C" California driver's license; and current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Multi-Media and/or Standard First Aid certificates prior to placement at worksite. Depending upon assignment, may be required to obtain a Class "2" or "B" California driver's license within thirty (30) days of employment.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Work in an office or field environment; walking, standing, running, sitting for periods of time; some stooping, bending, and climbing; dealing with the public.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS: Works a variety of shifts, weekends, and holidays.
