Job Overview
The Accounting Manager will play a crucial role in overseeing the financial operations of our organization, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards. The Position of Accounting Manager for Fisher Island Community Association is an evolving position. The position requirement is subject to change as the roles of the Accounting Department adjust to the ever-changing environment. The requirements that make the foundation of the position are below but note that this is subject to change at any time by the Assistant Controller or CFO to ensure the Accounting Department is run in an efficient manner.
Plans and performs activities related to the coordination of a smooth workflow and assist in the creation of financial information by performing the following duties, personally or through subordinates. Ultimately, the Accounting Manager will contribute to the financial health and sustainability of the organization by maintaining robust accounting practices and systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assists in the development and implementation of goals, policies, priorities, and procedures relating to financial management, budget, and accounting.
- Supervises in the preparation of various financial statements and reports.
- Completes detailed reviews of financial statements prior to Controller and top management review.
- Performs the installation and maintenance of accounting records to show receipts and expenditures.
- Performs the maintenance of general and subsidiary ledgers.
- Prepares statements and reports of estimated future costs and revenues.
- Prepares external audit materials.
- Reconciliation of Balance Sheet accounts
- Participates in the installation and maintenance of procedures and systems to automate financial operations.
- Ensuring timely billing of Quarterly assessment and procedures for delinquent accounts.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Directly supervises employees in the Accounting Department.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
- Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, including second-hand environmental smoke. The employee may be exposed to the risks associated in attempting to resolve issues with extremely irate or difficult guests or staff members. The noise level in the work environment varies from light to moderate.
