About This Position
We are seeking an energetic and results-driven Sales Representative to develop and grow their own sales territory. In this role, you will maintain relationships with existing customers while attracting new clients to drive business growth. As an ambassador for Valley Cooperative Association (VCA), you will become a trusted face for both members and customers, ensuring alignment with company values and policies. You will leverage your interpersonal and relationship-building skills to provide top-notch service and support to customers, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders as needed.
Essential Job Functions:
- Establish, maintain, and strengthen strategic relationships with assigned and prospective customers through sales calls, events, and networking.
- Act as the primary point of contact for customers, promoting VCA’s products and services while providing tailored solutions.
- Identify and forecast new business opportunities, presenting customized quotes and portfolio programs, including applicable deals, promotions, and agreements.
- Achieve and exceed sales goals, managing a sales funnel to ensure accurate forecasting and attainment.
- Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy that aligns with personal and company objectives.
- Utilize CRM software to track customer interactions, sales activities, and maintain up-to-date records.
- Prepare and present performance reports, ensuring data accuracy and insights to drive informed decision-making.
- Effectively communicate VCA’s value proposition and ensure a professional representation of the company.
- Work closely with internal teams—including Marketing, Purchasing, Accounting, Transportation, and Warehouse—to maximize efficiency and optimize the sales process.
- Participate in customer entertainment, industry events, and prospecting activities to build brand awareness and drive engagement.
- Assist in identifying new prospects and refining existing target customer lists.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Proven experience in consultative account management and sales.
- Strong understanding of the sales process with a customer-first approach.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to quickly establish rapport and build long-term relationships with customers and suppliers.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and CRM software.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Ability to travel up to 20% overnight.
- Valid driver’s license required.
Physical & Mental Requirements:
- Primarily office-based with occasional travel for customer meetings.
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods during customer visits.
- Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs occasionally.
- Strong problem-solving skills to address customer needs and market dynamics effectively.
