About This Position
The Application Programmer Analyst analyzes and evaluates complex systems, and devises computer programs, systems, and related procedures to process data. They prepare charts and diagrams to assist in problem analysis and submits recommendations for solution. They prepare program specifications and diagrams, develop coding logic flowcharts, encode, test, debug, and install the operating programs and procedures in coordination with computer operations and user departments.

- This position is Exempt.
- This position reports to the Chief Information Officer.
- The starting salary for this position is $65,000 depending on experience.
- Guide users in formulating requirements; advise on alternatives and implications of new or revised computer systems and applications technology.
- Analyze user project proposals, identify omissions and errors in requirements, and conduct feasibility studies; recommends an optimum approach and develop system design for approved projects.
- Develop new and maintains existing complex systems and subsystems such as inventory control, payroll, or financial/cost analysis in which transactions are automatically processed through the full system of records; ensure the reliability of cross-college applications.
- Informally arbitrate between system users when conflicts arise.
- Use all phases of system analysis concepts, techniques, and methods; knowledge of available system software, computer equipment, and the regulations, structure, techniques, and management practices of one or more subject areas to design complex systems or subsystems.
- Reviews design, analysis, and code for quality and adherence to standards. Prepare and give presentations to user management.
- Provide on-call support and problem resolution for computer applications.
- May serve as lead analyst in a design subgroup, directing and integrating the work of analysts, each responsible for several programs.
- Maintain currency of knowledge concerning relevant state-of-the-art technology, equipment, and/or systems. Possess thorough knowledge of SQL and/or Object-Oriented Programming principles.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- Licensure or Certification: None
- Experience: Three to five years of related experience

- This job is conducted in an office work environment.
- Approximately 90% of this position’s duties require the use of a computer.
- Must be able to exert up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal.
- Typically, Monday through Friday, 8 am-5 pm
- May occasionally require evenings and weekends.
