Job Description

Job Title: Purchasing Assistant – Manufacturing

Location: Fort Lauderdale, FL
Department: Production
Reports To: Purchasing Manager
Employment Type: Full-Time

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Purchasing Assistant to support the purchasing and procurement activities within our manufacturing operations. This role will ensure the timely and cost-effective procurement of materials, components, and supplies to keep production running efficiently. The ideal candidate will be organized, have strong communication skills, and thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in sourcing and ordering raw materials, components, and supplies in accordance with production schedules.
  • Issue purchase orders and monitor delivery timelines to ensure materials arrive on time.
  • Communicate with vendors and suppliers regarding order status, lead times, and shipment tracking.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records, including order confirmations, delivery notes, and invoices.
  • Coordinate with warehouse, production, and quality control teams to resolve discrepancies or delays.
  • Support inventory management by monitoring stock levels and flagging potential shortages.
  • Assist in vendor performance evaluations and help maintain an approved supplier list.
  • Prepare and maintain procurement-related reports and documentation.

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards, and budget requirements.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business, or a related field preferred.
  • 1–2 years of experience in purchasing or procurement, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of supply chain processes and inventory systems is a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel); experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a deadline-driven environment.

Working Conditions:

  • Primarily office-based
  • May involve interaction with vendors and logistics partners outside standard working hours.

Salary Range: $41,600 - $50,000
