About This Position
- Position summary:
- A caregiver that is responsible for providing or assisting with patient care needs and maintaining a safe and clean environment. The Patient Care Aide must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to age groups according to specific chronological age, developmental age and/or psycho-social maturity.
- Education:
- Enrolled in a high school career technical Pre-Nursing program.
- Required length and type of experience:
- STNA and Basic Life Support Certificate required.
- Required licensure, certification or registry:
- Must maintain certification in CPR and be able to provide basic life support
- Duties and responsibilities for this position.
- Assists patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed and in a timely manner, according to Southwest General Health Center standards.
- Performs technical skills as trained, such as measuring vital signs, height, weight, and intake and output.
- Performs activities of daily living to include bathing, perineal care, feeding, elimination, bed making, application of sequential compression device (SCD) or TED hose, and assisting with the turning and transferring of patients.
- Communicates patient needs and care provided to the licensed nurse.
- Performs hourly rounding as per unit routine.
- Provides age-appropriate care for the specific population served as detailed by the organization
