Basic Purpose
The Behavior Technician provides direct one-on-one applied behavior analysis interventions to teach communication, social, and daily living skills and reduce maladaptive behavior in the home, community, and school settings. Behavior Technicians will utilize interventions developed out of the science of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).
Essential Functions:
- Establishes & maintains therapeutic relationship by pairing self as a reinforcing entity and building the value for the client of social interaction with the BT.
- Prompts safe and socially acceptable replacement behaviors in order to build a repertoire of communication, social interaction, and problem-solving skills
- Fades prompts appropriately to promote both successful and independent responding.
- Increases safe and appropriate replacement behaviors by providing access to reinforcers (desired items/actions, attention, or removal of demands/aversive situations)
- Accurately collects behavior data including: A-B-C anecdotal notes, frequency, duration, latency, inter- response time, event, and interval based recording.
- Follows the treatment plan goals and interventions utilizing sound judgment and seeks out appropriate consultation.
- Collaborates with family and treatment team members to provide treatment effectively and without disruption to the environment or other individuals in the environment.
- Educates parents and caregivers on reinforcement and early intervention information.
- Educates all those involved about the role of ABA based interventions and the BT, and functions within boundaries of the BT role in providing treatment.
Job Qualification Requirements
Knowledge/Experience
- High School Diploma or GED, Required•48 Hours college coursework, Preferred
- Must hold current certification as a Registered Behavior Technician as issued Behavior Analyst Certification (BACB) or be willing to test upon hire and training.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of behavior analytic therapies; experience delivering these services Must the have excellent writing and communication skills, be highly organized with the ability to multi-task.
- Must be and able to prompt and utilize quick body movements as indicated in the Behavior Intervention Plan in the course of working with children that possess challenging behavior.
- Must have manual dexterity to perform specific computer and electronic device functions for data collection.
- Must be physically present at the assigned job location, which may include home, school and community placements.
- Must be have able to receive detailed information through written communication.
- Must have visual acuity to read and comprehend written communication through computer, electronic devices, and paper means.
- Must have reliable transportation and be willing and able to travel between different job sites.

Licenses/Certifications
- RBT credentialed
- PCM Certified
- CPR and First Aid trained
Physical Demands
- Able to lift 50 lbs.
- Must be able to assume and maintain a variety of postures (kneeling, squatting, crawling, sitting,standing) for extended periods.
- Must be able to sit on floor or stand for long periods
Work Environment
- Must be able to work well as part of a team
- Must be able to work in home, community, and within a center
