About This Position
The purpose of this position is to perform routine landscaping work and facility maintenance; perform equipment, facility, and grounds maintenance; and perform landscape duties at parks. This is accomplished by operating a variety of equipment; loading and hauling equipment; completing routine landscaping work and routine grounds work; and completing maintenance tasks as instructed. Other duties include assisting with special event setup and teardown.

- Completes routine landscaping functions (mowing, trimming, mulching, ball field preparation);
- Follows safety procedures of the equipment and ensures that equipment is operated correctly;
- Operates a variety of equipment to complete Park maintenance;
- Loads and transports equipment (mowers, trimmers, chain saws, and hand tools) as needed;
- Receives and follows project outlines and instructions;
- Performs minor equipment maintenance;
- Coordinates heavy equipment repairs and maintenance with fleet division;
- Performs preventative maintenance on small engine equipment;
- Provides event support by assisting with event setups and breakdowns;
- Hauls and sets up tents, tables, chairs and other equipment;
- Collects and removes trash from special event sites;
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
- High School diploma or GED; and
- At least 1 year experience operating various light to medium duty landscaping equipment (mowers, trimmers, chain saws, power and hand tools).

- Must have a valid driver's license issued by N.C. or another state. (Note: a valid driver's license is a current driver's license that is not revoked, suspended, or subject to limited restoration or conditional operation privileges.)
- This position must be able to work nights and weekends to support the department's activities as needed.
- This position requires working in all kinds of weather conditions (extreme heat, cold, rain, etc.)
- This position requires the ability to lift and/or carry 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
