About This Position
What you will do at Harris County Precinct 2
Under the direction of the Support Services Director, Bus Driver is responsible for transporting constituents to and from events.
- Operates a bus or multi-passenger van, transporting passengers to and from designated locations
- Performs pre and post inspection of the bus or van including that the vehicle is sufficiently fueled
- Inspects inventory of medical supplies pre and post trip
- Assists elderly, children and/or disabled passengers on and off bus or van ensuring that passengers are wearing seat belts
- Keeps interior and exterior of vehicle clean and neat, including sweeping, mopping, and cleaning windows/windshield
- Maintains records of mileage, routes, times and incidents; completes trip/inspection reports
- Prepares and maintains maps of routes and pick-up points
- Assists at Precinct functions as needed

Education:
- High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent from an accredited educational institution.
- Must have a Texas class “B” CDL with passenger endorsement
- Knowledgeable of driving safety practices, traffic laws and regulations
- Must have good verbal communication skills
- Ability to operate a bus or multi-passenger van under all driving and road conditions
- Ability to drive bus for extended periods of time
- Must have and maintain a good driving record
- Wear Precinct provided uniforms at all times
- Must pass physical examination
- Ability to work with a diverse group of senior citizens
- Ability to work well with public and staff members

Experience:
- Two (2) years’ experience driving a passenger bus (preferred)
Position Type and Typical Hours of Work:
Full-time | Monday - Friday; 8:00am to 5:00pm.
Hours may vary based on business needs of the department and some weekend, evening hours or holidays may be required during special events.

- Reports To Position: Transportation Manager
- Supervises Positions: None
- This job operates in the field operating a bus and/or passenger vehicle. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Noise level in the work environment is usually average.
- This position is prominently sedentary however, may require some light physical activity. Ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
Employment may be contingent on passing a drug screen and meeting other standards.
