Job Description

The Family Stability Initiative focuses on homelessness prevention, financial stability, and reducing school moves for families with school-aged children living in Providence. The program emphasizes long-term stable housing and economic stability for families at risk of homelessness with the ultimate goal of providing educational and life-long opportunities for children by providing wrap-around services to the entire family.

Conduct intake interviews and assessments with families to identify their housing and educational needs, and provide comprehensive wrap-around services for the entire family; Develop a housing stability plan with families that includes specific goals, action steps, referrals, and guidance to support the stability plan; Engage families in financial literacy training that includes budgeting to help them achieve financial sustainability; Monitor the attendance and academic progress of school-aged children, and develop an educational plan or goal for the children in the household; Keep families' demographic information, activities, and case notes confidential in a secure file and database; Monitor the families' progress to assess program outcomes and evaluations; Collaborate with community partners, including the Providence School Department, to identify eligible children and their families for the program.

  • Minimum of an Associate's degree in Human Services, Public Administration, or a closely related field, with at least two (2) years of experience working with community service programs and target populations and demographics.
  • Have experience working with diverse populations, including low-to-moderate-income families.
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Office and common software packages, including electronic communication devices.
  • Bi-lingual required.
  • Have the ability to multi-task, prioritize duties and meet deadlines.
  • Identify and anticipate problems and take effective courses of action.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with community partners.
  • Possess and maintain a valid Rhode Island Driver's License at the time of hire and throughout employment.
  • Current Criminal Background Investigation clearance.
  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
