The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Job Overview:

The SPD Technician Certified performs all aspects of decontamination, cleaning, disinfection, sterilization, and surgical supplies and equipment distribution functions.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • HS Diploma or equivalent

Preferred:

  • 1-3 years Central Sterile Processing experience

Certifications and Licenses Required:

  • Must be certified by the IAHCSMM or the Sterile Processing board as mandated by the New Jersey State Department of Health
    • Must accrue CEUs to maintain current certification

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Shift working, 3:00PM-11:00PM
  • Please note, weekends and holidays are at rotating times. Those times start at 8:00AM and 11:00AM.
  • Per Diem (PD)

Essential Functions:

  • Performs the activities within the department, including but not limited to cleaning, decontamination, disinfection, assembly and sterilization of surgical devices &instruments, code carts and patient care equipment
  • Identifies & understands written data and be able to read/write alpha and numeric data accurately
  • Assists department supervisors in coordinating daily work levels to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency throughout all department functions
  • Conscientious with regards to surgical procedures, nursing units clinical needs, and equipment procurement
  • Capable of accepting pressure assignments, as assigned, relative to the department
  • Interacts professionally with other departments and personnel within the system including physicians
  • Demonstrates a willingness to accept new responsibilities/ideas, learn duties of the position and possess good organizational skills
  • Assists SPD Supervisor with staff orientation, on the job training activities in the department
  • Assumes responsibility for the distribution of medical/surgical supplies and equipment
  • Works in a high stress/high volume department
  • Attends hands on in-service/ seminars pertaining to the Central Sterile Processing department
