We’re looking for driven and committed Victorian Selective Entry Assistant Tutors to guide Year 7–8 students as they prepare for entry into some of Victoria’s most prestigious selective high schools.
Selective Entry preparation can feel overwhelming and confusing for students. This is where you come in. You will mentor ambitious young learners, help them build confidence, master challenging exam content, and develop the mindset needed to excel.
As a Selective Entry Assistant Tutor, you will lead engaging small-group classes and provide personalised one-on-one coaching, using high-quality teaching materials with minimal administrative tasks so you can focus on what matters most: teaching, inspiring, and empowering students to reach their full potential.

What You'll Do
Weekly Group Classes: Conduct engaging 2-hour Selective Entry classes for small groups of 6-12 students across Years 6-8. Subjects covered are Mathematics (Reasoning / Quantitative subtests), English (Reading / Verbal subtests), Writing (Creative / Persuasive subtests)Each session follows a structured three-part approach: content delivery to build understanding, targeted practice to reinforce concepts, and assessments to evaluate progress.NOTE: You will specialise into one subject, so you will not be required to do all three.1-on-1 Consultations: Provide personalised consultations with students and parents to evaluate student progress, identify areas for improvement, and make a tailored improvement plan to accelerate their development.Essay Marking: Writing Tutors will mark student submissions and provide prompt, targeted feedback. This flexible marking work is completed outside of class hours and is fully compensated.Training & Team Collaboration: Complete initial training, participate in occasional team meetings, and assist with basic resource review as needed to maintain program quality.

Academic ExcellenceAttended a Victorian selective school (Melbourne High, Mac.Robertson Girls’, Nossal High or Suzanne Cory High)
NOTE: Does not include John Monash Science School or Elizabeth Blackburn School of Sciences90+ ATAR requiredExperience with competitive examinations (Selective Entry, scholarship exams, GAMSAT, SAT, etc.) strongly favouredAcademic awards or scholarships (desirable)Teaching ExperienceTutoring or mentoring experience with younger studentsDemonstrated passion for education and student developmentPersonal RequirementsAbility to commit for the full academic year (no long absences)Sign an NDA to protect the organisation’s resourcesAgree to a non-compete clause (no group tutoring outside Contour)Able to travel to campus locationsGenuine desire to help students reach their potentialCompensationGroup Teaching: $80 per 2-hour class + Super + Bonus (based on class size and experience level)1-on-1 Consultations: $35 per hour + SuperTraining, Meetings & Additional Tasks: $25 per hour + SuperPerformance Bonuses: Revenue-sharing mode based on student enrolment — as your classes grow, so do your rewards

Onboarding & TrainingOnboarding and training will take place at our Melbourne CBD campusRegular Weekly WorkTeam Meeting: 1 hour per week at a recurring weekly time.Classes: 8-24 hours per week (spread across Monday-Sunday). Consistent weekly schedule across our Victorian campuses, with classes scheduled during after-school and weekend hours to accommodate student availability.1-On-1 Consultations: Average of 4 hours per week, which varies based on the time of the yearNOTE: The time requirements above are estimated and flexible.
