Chicanos Por La Causa, Inc. (CPLC) is a non-profit organization and one of the largest Hispanic Community Development Corporations in the United States. The organization began with a group of student and community activists in 1967, and was incorporated and received non-profit status in 1969 to fight discrimination against the Mexican American community. Inspired by Dolores Huerta and Cesar Chavez, we advocated for equity in education, politics, and labor conditions. HOW WILL MAKE AN IMPACT IN THIS ROLE?

YOU will:

    Support non-profit’s small business lending program with accounting capacity. Provide accounting expertise to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance for CPLC’s small business lending program, supporting strategic decision-making and organizational growth. Lead initiatives to enhance accounting systems, streamline reporting, and ensure adherence to internal controls and best practices. Manage complex loan accounting processes, analyze financial data, and develop recommendations to optimize lending operations and maintain compliance with GAAP and regulatory standards.

WHO YOU ARE:

  • You have a strong commitment to working with multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment.
  • You have excellent attention to detail with analytical, and problem-solving skills. You have strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. You are well versed in Microsoft 365. You love audits and have excellent skills in documenting audit trails.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES

Education/Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field and 2 years of progressive experience in the field.
  • Associate degree in accounting or business, and 4 years of progressive experience in the field.
  • Experience in accounting software and comfortable using different types of computer software and applications.

Other requirements:

  • Knowledge in accounting principles and experience applying them in a range of occurrences.
  • Work closely with CPLC’s business lending program by performing loan, bank, and general accounting roles.
