Overview

Key Responsibilities & Performance Standards

Training Delivery & Facilitation

  • Deliver and facilitate in-person training sessions to employees across OHSU, tailored to varying risk levels.
  • Adapt training methods to accommodate diverse job roles and learning styles.
  • Ensure training content complies with local, state, and federal regulations, providing consistent instruction and recommendations.
  • Facilitate train-the-trainer sessions for approved internal facilitators and serve as a coach to ensure ongoing curriculum alignment, instructor confidence, and program sustainability.

Training Coordination & Management

  • Assist in the development of training schedules in collaboration with department leadership.
  • Create trauma-informed, inclusive learning environments that promote psychological safety and active engagement.
  • Address learner questions and concerns with empathy and professionalism, escalating issues as appropriate.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and resource on managing escalating patient behaviors.
  • Collect data on training coverage and key metrics to ensure effectiveness and impact.

Integration & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborate with stakeholders and Occupational Health leadership to align training initiatives with organizational strategies and requirements.
  • Provide consultation and short in-service trainings for high-risk teams, new leadership, or as post-incident support.
  • Collect and analyze participant feedback and post-training survey data to inform continuous improvement efforts.
  • Recommend adjustments to training delivery, session length, or instructional methods based on learner outcomes and satisfaction metrics


Responsibilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience; AND
  • 3 years experience providing training, course design and web development including online courses, instructional design, technical writing, and understanding of theories, tools and methods of adult learning; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience; AND
  • Possesses strong presentation skills or public speaking experience to communicate information and ideas clearly verbally and in writing based on the needs of the audience.
  • Qualifications

    • 2-3 years of experience facilitating live, instructor-led training for adult learners in professional or healthcare settings.
    • Demonstrated experience in de-escalation, workplace safety, behavioral health, or a closely related topic area.
    • Experience working in multidisciplinary teams and supporting efforts involving sensitive, confidential, or trauma-related subject matter.
    • Knowledge of workplace violence prevention principles, de-escalation strategies, and employee safety protocols.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Windows operating systems.
    • Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate documentation and records.
    • Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize multiple tasks, manage deadlines, and work independently.
    • Flexible and adaptable; able to respond effectively to changing priorities and emerging needs.
    • Familiarity with healthcare-specific regulatory environments (local, state, and federal).
    • Experience working in or with mental health or behavioral health environments.
