About This Position

The Legal Counsel, Technology Transactions & Litigation role plays an integral role in SoundHound AI’s commercial transactions and litigation efforts, particularly those related to technology. The role negotiates, drafts, and reviews a variety of agreements and leads litigation efforts, ensuring that SoundHound AI remains at the forefront of compliance, intellectual property protection, and risk mitigation.
Responsibilities
  • Technology Transactions: Lead and manage complex transactions involving licensing, software development, cloud services, AI models, and data sharing. Draft, negotiate, and review contracts that advance AI technology and product initiatives.
  • Technology Litigation: Oversee and manage litigation strategies involving intellectual property disputes, data privacy issues, regulatory compliance, and other AI-related matters.
  • Risk Management: Advise business units on potential risks and regulatory requirements related to AI technologies, intellectual property rights, and data privacy.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, product, business development, and compliance teams to align legal strategies with business objectives.
  • Regulatory & Compliance: Stay current on AI-related regulations, data protection laws, and intellectual property issues.
  • External Counsel Management: Engage and manage relationships with external counsel on specialized matters, ensuring alignment with the company’s overall legal strategy and budget.
Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent from an accredited law school.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience practicing law, with an emphasis on technology transactions and technology litigation
  • Previous experience at a top law firm or in-house at a tech company is preferred
  • Deep understanding of AI technologies, intellectual property law, data privacy, and regulatory issues
  • Proven track record of managing complex technology transactions and handling technology-related litigation
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of legal matters while collaborating effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent negotiation, drafting, and communication skills
