The Nelson Golf and Sports Club located in Irving, Texas is a 440-acre property which consists of two 18-hole golf courses, TPC Las Colinas and Cottonwood Valley. The golf courses consist of L93/Crenshaw and LS44/96-2 Bentgrass greens, Bermudagrass fairways and rough.
Interns will work closely with the superintendents and assistants in order to be exposed to all facets of our maintenance program. As an intern you will gain experience in calibration/application of chemicals and fertilizers, application of fertilizer/pesticides with GPS equipped sprayers, green’s moisture management, daily course preparation, irrigation repair/scheduling, agronomic philosophies and implementation, logistics in planning/scheduling daily jobs, and routine maintenance. Dependent on availability and intern schedule of arrival you will also have the opportunity to experience working PGA tour events in the area.

This position will be part of a growing company with a portfolio of private, public and resort courses throughout the U.S. We offer cross-facility training, scholarships and opportunities to participate in the American Express (PGA TOUR) at PGA WEST or The Ford Championship (LPGA) at Whirlwind Golf Club.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Currently studying agronomy, turfgrass management or a similar degree.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
The golf course agronomy intern is responsible for learning the agronomics to produce playing conditions outlined in the course’s business plan. This individual will also focus on the business of agronomy, technology, continuing education and long term strategic planning.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- 1-year turfgrass management experience preferred.
- Currently learning about agronomy and turfgrass management practices with the ability to teach others.
- A strong business aptitude and passion for the golf business.
