POSITION: Electrical & Mechanical Project EngineerLOCATION: Jupiter, FL.STATUS: Salary Exempt JOB SUMMARY The Electrical and Mechanical Project Engineer will provide design, installation and operations leadership for gas turbine combustor and auxiliary conversion projects, working alongside conversion project leads. Essential duties include the design and development of electrical and controls requirements and specifications, sizing and specifying the related equipment, providing commissioning support both remotely and in the field, and the development of mechanical and electrical systems installation reference materials and project documentation. This position will coordinate with customers, suppliers, digital products, tuning and controls, conversions engineering and field execution teams throughout the project lifecycle. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe essential functions of the job include, but are not limited to, the following:Lead the design and development of electrical and mechanical systems specifications for commercial projects.Specify electrical equipment and instruments, including pressure, temperature and flow measurement devices, control panels, feedback devices, valve controllers and combustion electrical equipment such as thermocouples and ignitors.Frequently interact with customers to align on technical issues, present solutions and support the commercial installation of developed systems.Work closely with field controls engineers to ensure hardware definition aligns with operating concepts and planned logic installations.Develop, coordinate and present Installation Readiness Reviews and related presentations for internal stakeholders and customers.Support and troubleshoot electrical and controls issues related to gas turbine combustion and auxiliary systems during and post-outage. Create standard documentation for projects, such as mechanical piping diagrams, electrical I/O lists, network diagrams, loop drawings and electrical schematics.Provide technical support and cost estimates to the sales and tendering group for new proposals.As required, support redesign of GT components and systems to meet design and performance criteria, such as emissions, hardware life and cost.Other duties as assigned. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSEducation & TrainingBachelor or Master’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aeronautical Engineering or related field.Must complete EHS assigned regulatory training for work area as described by PSM’s EHS Training Matrix
Skills/Experience 5+ years of progressive experience in Industrial Gas Turbine (IGT) product development, commissioning, systems development and/or controls development, simulation and field support of land based or aircraft/marine gas turbine engines.Knowledge of GT control systems such as Speedtronic Mark V, Mark VI or Vie logic sequences and HMI screens and interfaces in Cimplicity. Working knowledge of Siemens T3000 and Emerson Ovation a strong plus.Strong analytical, decision-making and organizational skills are required.Excellent written and verbal communication skills: must be comfortable presenting technical concepts to customers and internal stakeholders.Experience with electrical component function and system design.Knowledge of instrument calibration procedures and tasks associated with commissioning of gas turbines. The ability to perform associated hands-on fieldwork is strongly desired.Working knowledge of GT support and ancillary systems such as fuel delivery, purge, instrument air and hydraulic supplies, understanding of associated limits and alarms and ability to troubleshoot and correct issues, being hardware or software related, is required.Experience working with lean, premix combustion systems designs and the trade-offs between emissions, dynamics and control settings in real world applications. Lean premix combustion tuning experience and GT cycle knowledge a plus.Demonstrated coaching and mentoring skills, including ability to motivate and influence others.Proven track record of EHS leadership by example, including personal responsibility to prevent accidents, and reward and encourage proactive safety for teammates.
