About This Position

Nuclear Medicine Technologist

Job Summary

Provide high-level administrative support by conducting research, preparing statistical reports, handling information requests, and performing clerical functions such as preparing correspondence, receiving visitors, arranging conference calls, and scheduling meetings.

Essential Functions

  • Meet with patients to obtain their medical histories, and explain diagnostic procedures and tests
  • Collect blood and urine samples from patients
  • Determine and prepare the equipment and supplies required for an examination or procedure
  • Prepare and administer the proper dose of radiopharmaceuticals to patients, by injection or inhalation
  • Lift and slide patients to position them for cameras, to obtain diagnostic images
  • Analyze diagnostic images and the results of lab tests
  • Employ safety methods (including the use of syringe shields, gloves, and personal radiation-monitoring devices) to protect patients and the medical staff from radiation exposure
  • Oversee quality control, regularly subjecting equipment to a wide range of tests
  • Work under the supervision of physicians, and in coordination with other medical professionals
  • Create and update patient records

Minimum Education/Certifications

Education: High school; Three years diploma school or four years of college, or comparable education in an AMA approved Associate Degree program for Nuclear Medicine.

Licensure: New Jersey State Department of Environmental Protection - Nuclear Medicine

Certification: ARRT and NMTCB certified

BLS certification by American Heart Association (AHA).

Minimum Work Experience
One year experience after registry or certification preferred

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

Must be willing to work holidays, weekends and provide additional coverage as needed
