What You Will Do
- Engage with patients directly to assist with clinical procedures, taking vital signs, preparing patients for exams, and providing a comforting presence throughout their visit.
- Contribute to the overall patient experience by ensuring smooth coordination of services, from preparing exam rooms to managing follow-up care, all while ensuring patient safety and satisfaction.
- Perform essential administrative duties such as managing medical records, scheduling appointments, maintaining inventory, and ensuring the timely ordering and receipt of medical supplies.
- Assist with the financial aspects of the clinic, including reconciling purchase card transactions, collecting co-pays, preparing bank deposits, and collaborating with the billing company to ensure accurate and timely processing.
- Represent the clinic at community events, networking opportunities, and outreach programs, helping to promote our services and strengthen our ties with the local community.
FLSA: Non-Exempt
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Any one of the following:
- Current/valid State of Illinois Medical Assistant certification.
- -OR-
- One (1) year (12 months) of work experience and/or training which provided knowledge of clinical procedures and training in vital signs and patient prep for exams, sterilization and maintenance of instruments and equipment, and assisting with examinations and minor surgical procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology, basic first aid principles, methods, and techniques.
- Skills in obtaining specimens including those obtained from urine, throat, nasal cavity and through venipuncture, finger stick and capillary tube.
- Knowledge of aseptic and sterilization techniques, inventory procedures, developing and charting medical records.
- Skill in preparing case histories, reports and records accurately and according to need.
- Ability to make decisions based on urgency of the situation and accordance with work procedures and clinic policies.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Willingness to and skill in dealing effectively with patients, staff and others inside or outside the clinic.
- Current BLS certification.
- Proficiency in spoken and written Spanish is highly desirable.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
