Job Description
Critical Response Group (CRG) is a unique team of U.S Special Operations Forces veterans, public safety professionals, and technical experts committed to enhancing public safety through the implementation of best-in-class technology and training techniques. Our solutions are validated by thousands of real-world incidents under the most stressful conditions and are deployed across the United States and internationally to protect schools, businesses, hospitals, and other critical infrastructure.
Critical Response Group (CRG) · Fully Remote (US) · Full-Time
About the Role
CRG builds safety-critical mapping and situational awareness software for schools and first responders. As a Senior Platform Engineer, you'll design, build, and maintain the software platforms behind our live situational awareness tooling — including our Finished Product Portal (FPP), platform APIs, and map streaming services.
You'll own features end-to-end — from design and implementation through testing, deployment, and maintenance — and work closely with engineers, designers, and product stakeholders to ship high-quality, secure, and performant software that scales with our users' needs.
What You'll Do
- Design, develop, and deploy scalable features across our front-end (Next.js, Tailwind CSS, ShadCN UI — with iOS and Android on the roadmap) and back-end systems
- Advance our situational awareness, map streaming, and partner integration capabilities
- Mentor and coach other engineers; contribute to architecture and system-design decisions
- Partner with product and design to translate user needs into maintainable software
- Participate in code reviews, testing, and documentation to uphold code quality
- Integrate CRG software with partner platforms and internal APIs
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues across the full stack to ensure reliability and performance
What We're Looking For
- Strong full-stack experience with modern front-end (React/Next.js) and back-end development
- Modern platform engineering experience
- Sound technical judgment and a track record of owning features end-to-end
- Experience mentoring engineers and shaping architectural direction
- Bonus: experience with tactical mapping, TAK, or geospatial/situational-awareness systems
Logistics & Benefits
- Fully remote, with quarterly in-person collaboration sessions at CRG HQ (travel covered)
- Occasional travel for partner collaboration, conferences, or technical workshops
- 401(k) with 4% match · Medical, vision & dental · 529 college savings plan
- 15 vacation days, 12 sick days, federal holidays
