Job Description
About the Role:
Summer at Lakeside is currently recruiting for a Elementary and Middle School Makerspace teacher to teach at our Investigative Learning Camp (ILC), an academic and experiential summer camp designed for students entering grades 3-8. The three courses we are hiring for are Makerspace: Game and Puzzle Design (Gr.3-4), which runs July 20-24, 8:45-11:45am; Makerspace: Architecture & Engineering (Gr.3-4), which runs July 27-31, 8:45-11:45am; and Makerspace: Intro to Entrepreneurship (Gr.5-8), which runs July 20-24 and July 27-31, 12:30-3:30pm. In all of these Makerespace courses, students will learn and practice the Design Thinking Process: empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test. Through hands-on activities and challenges, campers identify problems worth solving, brainstorm, and create or build original solutions. Most ILC Makerspace classes culminate in a showcase, presentation, or friendly competition at the end of the week.
The Investigative Learning Camp offers students the opportunity to take classes covering STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) -based topics. All courses encourage creative play and hands-on learning; courses are project-based and do not assume students have any previous knowledge of the subject matter. No homework is assigned.
There will be a mandatory orientation meeting on Wednesday, July 1. Visit our Investigative Learning Camp (Gr.5-8) and Investigative Learning Camp Jr. (Gr.3-4) webpages to read more about this camp, including descriptions of the courses offered for summer 2026.
