About the Procurement Coordinator role

Non-product procurement plays a critical role in keeping ANBL and CNB operating effectively and compliantly, sourcing goods, services, and construction through structured public-sector procurement processes.

The Procurement Coordinator possesses comprehensive subject matter expertise for contract administration and public procurement practices, including a thorough understanding of associated business processes, and applicable legislative and regulatory considerations. This role is also responsible for providing timely business and customer support in all areas of accountability. 

Public Procurement Environment 

As Crown corporations, ANBL and CNB operate within a regulated procurement environment and must comply with the New Brunswick Procurement Act and associated policies, as well as applicable interprovincial and international trade agreements (e.g., CFTA, CETA). Procurement activities must be conducted with a focus on fairness, transparency, open competition, and value for money. 

Additional Responsibilities

  • Support in Strategic Procurement Initiatives: Supports in executing strategic procurement initiatives and identifying opportunities and lessons learned for continuous improvement.
  • Compliance Support: Maintains comprehensive subject matter expertise on public procurement practices, ensuring all procurement transactions are complete, reliable, and compliant with applicable legislation and best practices. Monitors general mailbox, responds to questions, and ensures requests or inquiries are dealt with as promptly.The Procurement Coordinator supports procurement activities in a manner that ensures fairness, transparency, open competition, and value for money, while maintaining compliance with all legislative, regulatory, and trade agreement requirements. Adheres to ANBL’s policies related to conflict of interest, ethical conduct, and confidentiality in all procurement and contracting activities.
  • Day-to-Day Support & Coordination: Monitors procurement inbox, responds to inquiries, and ensures requests are addressed in a timely and professional manner.
  • Purchasing Administration: Prepares purchase orders by verifying specifications and price, including; obtaining recommendations from suppliers for substitute items; obtaining approval from requisitioning department, monitoring, and expediting purchase orders, and working with AP team to resolve invoice issues to ensure timely payment. 
  • Contract Administration: Coordinates routing of contract documents for execution and ensure documents are fully executed and filed appropriately.Ensurescontract security, insurance and signed documents are in place at the beginning of each contract and subsequently for multi-year contracts. Maintains accurate and organized records of contracts, amendments, supplier information and related documentation (including following-up with contractors/suppliers to secure appropriate documentation such as insurance, security, criminal records checks, qualifications, and other relevant information). Supports in contract issue resolution, and ensures proper procedures for contract closure, including final payment and documentation.
  • Analytics and Reporting:Supports data-driven decision-making by tracking, analyzing, and reporting on procurement activities, and providing insights to business units and vendors

What do you need to be successful? 

  • Post-secondary education in business administration, or equivalent 
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in procurement, purchasing, contract administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience  
  • Ability to read and understand basic contract documents
  • Ability to understand and interpret policies and procedures  
  • Effective time management, organizational, and prioritization skills 
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail; strong writing skills 
  • Excellent reading and language comprehension. 
  • Customer service focus 
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills. 
  • Confidentiality and discretion required 

Would be an asset if you had:   

  • Supply chain management education from a recognized institution 
  • Experience in public procurement or contract management 
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills; particularly in Excel 
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365

Work location:

  • The Retail Operations Centre is located in Fredericton, New Brunswick. 
  • The successful candidate must be based in New Brunswick, hybridwork is possible. 
  • Semi-regular travel for meetings and project workare required. 

Compensation information:

  • $47,917 - $55,645
