About the Role:
The Quality Assurance Supervisor is responsible for ensuring timely and effective implementation of the company’s policies, procedures, and activities involved in assuring the quality of manufactured products. The Supervisor maintains close working relationships with other department managers and supervisory personnel to meet and maintain product quality, identify, solve and prevent problems affecting product quality, maximize productivity, and comply with regulatory requirements.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor Degree of Science preferably in Food Science or related field (Meat Science, Biology, Microbiology, Food Microbiology, etc.) OR at least 2 years of work experience as Quality Control Technician in food industry, AND at least one (1) year of experience in a supervisory capacity.
- A good knowledge of Current Good Manufacturing Practices, preferably 21CFR Part 111, and food safety.
- Good understanding of quality testing within the food and beverage industry to include analytical, microbiological and sensory evaluation. Must possess a basic understanding of chemical and microbiological analysis and basic math.
- Preferred: HACCP certification, PCQI.

Skills:
The required skills such as quality systems and quality assurance are applied daily to monitor and maintain product standards, ensuring compliance with food safety regulations. Calibration expertise is essential for verifying that all measurement equipment is accurate and reliable, which directly impacts product quality. Knowledge of statistical process control allows the supervisor to analyze production data, identify trends, and implement corrective actions proactively. Food manufacturing experience provides a practical understanding of production workflows and potential quality risks, enabling effective problem-solving. Preferred skills like certification and familiarity with regulatory agencies enhance the supervisor’s ability to lead continuous improvement efforts and maintain up-to-date compliance with evolving industry standards.
Roles/Responsibilities/Expectations:
A. Quality Assurance and Quality Control
- Comprehends HACCP and Preventative Control rules. Develops, implements, and manages related programs and policies.
- Supervises and directs Quality Control Technicians (QA Techs) who are responsible for enforcing Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and other quality-related policies to meet product quality standards.
- Reviews the production records and other manufacturing-related documents to verify compliance and record keeping for all mandated manufacturing processes, quality checks, testing, sampling, and sanitation activities.
- Audits the quality of raw materials, packaging components, labels, and finished products to ensure compliance with established specifications and regulatory standards.
- Follows up with implemented programs (GMPs, Good Hygiene Practices, HACCP, allergen control, cleaning and sanitation, pest control, equipment calibration, etc.) to ensure compliance by all Quality Control employees.
- Coordinate testing results involving finished products, raw materials, and packaging components, and the appropriate release and hold programs associated with these materials.
- Oversees the “On Hold” product program, including the status, release, and destruction of “Rejected” products.
- Assists in investigating and correcting quality-related issues (including customer complaints) through collaboration with other departments.
- Recommends and implements best solutions to improve quality and work efficiency.
- Assists in the implementation of policies, operating procedures, quality systems and programs to ensure proper testing, evaluation, inspection, and technical support in order to meet product quality standards.
- Participates in all regulatory, third party and customer audits and inspections, and corrective action response.
- Ensures good performance by QA Techs by mentoring, training, setting expectations, providing accountability, and performing evaluations.
- Attends and participates in all appropriate meetings.
- Communicates effectively with management staff all issues pertaining to food safety, food defense, compliance, process and quality control programs.
B. Sanitation
- Inspect the facility for compliance with sanitation standards, determining methods to resolve any problems.
