Job Description

BASIC FUNCTIONS

The Engineering Coordinator role is vital to Red Flame Industries’ Leak Sealing and EPE operations. This individual will be based out of the Acheson office and will act as a key support resource to both the engineering and field operations teams.

The Engineering Coordinator is responsible for completing engineering design work related to Category H fittings and hot tapping applications, coordinating third-party engineering services, and ensuring that all regulatory and technical requirements are met. This role also supports ABSA registration submissions, EPE verifications, and 3D scanning activities.

The position plays a critical role in maintaining engineering workflow efficiency, supporting inventory design and management, and ensuring that high-quality engineering deliverables are provided to internal stakeholders and clients. Additionally, the Engineering Coordinator will assist with occasional field leak repair work to support operational requirements.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • 3–5 years of experience in engineering coordination, drafting, or technical project support
  • Post-secondary education in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related discipline
  • Eligibility for APEGA (EIT) or ASET (C.Tech./P.Tech.) considered an asset
  • Experience with engineering design, drawings, and technical documentation
  • Knowledge of oil and gas industry, pressure equipment, and hot tapping operations is an asset
  • Experience or exposure to ABSA requirements and regulatory submissions preferred
  • Experience with 3D scanning technologies and CAD software considered an asset
  • Strong organizational, coordination, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities with minimal supervision
  • Internal training requirements will be defined within the Red Flame Industries Training Matrix

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

The Engineering Coordinator reports directly to the Director of Leak Sealing. The ability to work independently on routine matters while coordinating closely with engineering, operations, and third-party providers is critical to success in this role.

AUTHORITY

The Engineering Coordinator has the authority to:

  • Coordinate engineering deliverables and third-party engineering services
  • Initiate and track engineering-related activities, documentation, and submissions
  • Support scheduling of engineering work and technical resources in accordance with RFI policies and procedures

RESPONSIBILITIES

Top Five

  • Complete design engineering for Category H fittings and hot tapping applications
  • Coordinate all third-party engineering services to ensure timely and accurate deliverables
  • Prepare and manage ABSA registration submissions and regulatory documentation
  • Perform and support engineering verifications (EPE) and technical reviews
  • Support engineering operations including 3D scanning, inventory design, and project coordination

Additional Responsibilities

  • Assist the Leak Sealing and Engineering teams in all ongoing projects as required
  • Maintain all engineering documentation, drawings, and compliance records
  • Ensure all engineering work complies with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements
  • Support inventory design, tracking, and management of engineered components
  • Coordinate communication between internal teams, clients, and external engineering providers
  • Assist in improving engineering processes, workflows, and documentation standards
  • Provide technical support to operations and field personnel
  • Maintain high levels of internal and external customer satisfaction
  • Relay RFI policies and procedures to applicable stakeholders
  • Be available to assist with technical inquiries and provide support outside standard work hours when required

DUTIES

  • Perform design and drafting for Category H fittings and hot tapping applications
  • Prepare engineering work packages, drawings, and supporting technical documentation
  • Coordinate and track all third-party engineering activities and deliverables
  • Prepare and submit ABSA registration packages, ensuring accuracy and compliance
  • Conduct or assist with 3D scanning and data acquisition for engineering applications
  • Perform Engineering Pressure Equipment (EPE) verifications
  • Maintain engineering databases, drawings, and document control systems
  • Support inventory design and management processes
  • Track project progress, engineering timelines, and deliverables
  • Communicate with clients, vendors, and internal teams to ensure project alignment
  • Assist with occasional leak repair field work as required
  • Provide support for troubleshooting engineering and operational issues
  • Other duties as required

HEALTH AND SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure that all work is completed in compliance with all Red Flame Industries Health and Safety policies
  • Complete all safety training as required by RFI policies and applicable regulations
  • Ensure that all work adheres to customer safety requirements and industry regulations
  • Participate in RFI Health and Safety programs and initiatives as required
  • Support safe execution of both office-based and field-based engineering activities

MEASUREMENT OF PERFORMANCE

An Engineering Coordinator will be deemed to be performing in a satisfactory manner when the following have been met or exceeded:

  • Discharging responsibilities cited in Responsibilities and Duties with a primary focus on the Top Five
  • Engineering deliverables are completed accurately, efficiently, and on time
  • Regulatory submissions (e.g., ABSA) are completed with minimal revisions or delays
  • Effective coordination of third-party engineering services
  • High level of internal and external customer satisfaction
  • Proper maintenance of engineering records, documentation, and inventory systems
  • Contribution to operational efficiency and continuous improvement initiatives
