ABOUT R&D

Research & Development in Wella is a highly collaborative, competent and innovative group. You join diverse teams of highly passionate Scientists, Engineers and Hair & Nail Artists who innovate at the forefront of technology and beauty trends.

THE ROLE

In this role you will support the scalability qualification of Care and Styling making and filling operations at internal sites or TPM locations. Your work will focus on the pilot scale-up of lab prototypes, ensuring technical readiness to meet CPS timelines and appropriate escalation and mitigation of risks to protect the product launch. The role is based in the pilot plant and involves leading, developing and executing hands-on experimentation, delivering reliable, accurate and reproducible results. The successful applicant can use data and insights to guide the technical team towards actionable solutions to ensure robust innovation delivery, right first-time start-up and ongoing quality.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the pilot plant scale-up and plant qualification work to execute IMP, technical changes and supply network design relocation qualifications for care and styling products.
  • Contribute to the technical learning plan for the Process Development activities, applying technical rigor to lead the execution with excellence.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in R&D and Supply Chain to ensure successful project execution.
  • Proactively recognizes issues and proposes new approaches to create solutions.
  • Goes beyond accepted ideas to identify better ways to accomplish work and get better, faster results.
  • Communicate results and conclusions in a way that aids team decision making.

  • Available to travel to qualify production in manufacturing sites around the world.

PROBLEM SOLVING ASPECTS

Breadth: Broad role that requires knowledge in Care and Styling products, chemistry and process development, as well as collaborating across the technical community in R&D and Supply Chain.

Complexity: Requires technical knowledge of the Care and Styling portfolio and making transformations.

Influencing:

Strong English skills required to work with global teams. Able to communicate technical results to drive alignment on qualification plans and actionable solutions.

Education/Knowledge:

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering, or equivalent relevant experience in an industrial setting.
  • Knowledge of Hair Care or Personal Beauty manufacturing is an advantage.
  • Expertise in chemical and physical modelling utilising AI or machine learning as applicable to scale-up is an advantage.
