Position Summary

The Payer Account Manager is responsible for the end-to-end strategic management of assigned payer relationships. This role owns the full lifecycle of payer accounts, including contract strategy, negotiations and renegotiations, redirection initiatives, relationship management, contract tagging, and performance analysis.

The Account Manager serves as the primary point of contact for assigned payers, driving strategy through data analysis, cross-functional coordination, and proactive relationship development. This role ensures contracts are optimized for financial performance, operational alignment, and long-term market access, while supporting internal teams with accurate, timely contract resources and communication.

Key ResponsibilitiesAccount Ownership & Contract Strategy

· Own the full contract strategy for assigned payer accounts, including new contracts, amendments, renewals, and renegotiations.

· Analyze payer performance and market conditions to inform contract positioning and negotiation strategy.

· Lead contract discussions and negotiations with payers in alignment with organizational objectives.

· Facilitate and manage the contract approval and signature process for assigned accounts.

Relationship Management & Redirection Strategy

· Serve as the primary relationship owner for assigned payers, maintaining strong, professional partnerships.

· Drive payer engagement strategies including redirection programs, site-of-care initiatives, and value-based opportunities.

· Represent organizational programs, processes, and strategic initiatives in payer-facing discussions.

· Identify opportunities to strengthen relationships and expand access or utilization.

Contract Implementation & Resource Accuracy

· Collaborate with the Contract Implementation Specialist to ensure accurate contarct term communication including fee schedule management.

Data Analysis & Reporting

· Conduct data analysis related to scheduling, drug rates, fee schedules, utilization, and reimbursement performance.

· Prepare impact assessments and reports to support leadership decision-making.

· Assemble clear, digestible data and insights for internal leadership and payer-facing conversations.

· Analyze the financial impact of contract changes, renegotiations, and payer policy updates.

Cross-Functional Coordination & Compliance Support

· Collaborate with Credentialing to ensure accurate payer applications for new, current, and legacy sites.

· Support provider and location documentation maintenance to meet compliance requirements.

· Manage updates related to demographics, recredentialing, and contract changes for assigned accounts.

Communication & Process Improvement

· Develop and improve processes and procedures to increase efficiency and accuracy within payer account management.

· Track and report account activities, deliverables, and outcomes with accuracy and timeliness.

Required Knowledge and Skills

· Strong relationship management and negotiation skills.

· Advanced analytical ability with experience interpreting contract, fee schedule, and utilization data.

· Proficient in Excel for data manipulation, modeling, and reporting.

· Exceptional organizational skills with strong attention to detail.

· Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills.

· Forward-thinking, proactive approach to problem-solving.

· Ability to manage multiple complex accounts and priorities simultaneously.

· Collaborative mindset with accountability for outcomes.

Education & Experience Requirements

· Bachelor’s degree preferred; High School Diploma or equivalent required.

· 5+ years of relevant experience in payer contracting, contract management, healthcare operations, or medical office management.

· 2+ years of direct payer or partner relationship management experience.

· Demonstrated experience performing data analytics and financial impact analysis using Excel or similar tools.

· Ability to meet U.S. employment eligibility requirements.


The pay range for this role is:
65,000 - 80,000 USD per year(Sandy HQ)
