About the Role:
The Overnight Janitor plays a critical role in maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment within a manufacturing facility during non-operational hours. This position ensures that all workspaces, common areas, restrooms, and production floors are thoroughly cleaned and prepared for the next day’s operations. The janitor will be responsible for waste disposal, floor care, and the upkeep of cleaning equipment, contributing directly to the overall efficiency and safety of the manufacturing environment. Working overnight allows for minimal disruption to daily production activities while ensuring compliance with health and safety standards. The role requires a dependable individual who can work independently and take initiative to identify and address cleaning needs proactively throughout the facility.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in janitorial or custodial work, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
- Ability to work overnight shifts consistently and independently.
- Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals, supplies, and equipment operation.
- Physical ability to perform manual labor including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in occupational safety or hazardous materials handling.
- Experience with industrial cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers and buffers.
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations and workplace safety standards.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow detailed cleaning protocols.
- Good communication skills to report issues and coordinate with facility management.
Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive cleaning of manufacturing floors, offices, restrooms, break rooms, and other facility areas during overnight shifts.
- Sweep, mop, scrub, and polish floors using appropriate cleaning agents and equipment to maintain cleanliness and safety standards.
- Empty trash receptacles and dispose of waste materials in accordance with company policies and environmental regulations.
- Maintain and operate cleaning machinery such as floor scrubbers and buffers, ensuring proper use and routine maintenance.
- Report any maintenance issues, safety hazards, or supply shortages to the appropriate personnel promptly.
- Restock cleaning supplies and ensure all janitorial equipment is stored properly at the end of each shift.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and wear required personal protective equipment while performing cleaning tasks.

The required skills enable the janitor to efficiently and safely perform cleaning tasks that maintain the facility’s hygiene and operational readiness. Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and equipment ensures that the janitor can select and use appropriate materials without causing damage or safety risks.
