Job Description
Primary Purpose
Responsible for assisting and supervising the construction of a project under the direction and in partnership with the project team comprising of site superintendents, safety officers, project engineers and project managers.
Travel
Travel is required – up to 90%. 90% is required due to assignment being on site/physical location, living in temporary housing. Onsite is Monday - Friday with occasional off hours work, nights and weekends as needed.
Current Project Locations: We are actively hiring for projects located in Chicago, IL. Project assignments are based on business needs and candidate preference, when possible.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Direct support and collaboration with the site superintendents
- Oversee daily construction activities in assigned areas.
- Monitor subcontractors and trades to ensure work progresses as planned.
- Coordinate work between different trades to avoid conflicts and delays.
- Track daily production and report schedule impacts Superintendent.
- Prepare daily reports detailing manpower, progress, weather, and issues.
- Maintain project records, photographs, and inspection logs.
- Track deliveries and material usage.
- Manage site access, traffic flow, laydown areas, and housekeeping.
- Review and understand the project’s contract documents, including the drawings and written specifications.
- Provide oversight into the construction effort (in conjunction with the Site Superintendent), including craft employees and subcontractors, to ensure the project is constructed per design, budget and schedule. Includes interfacing with client representatives, AE representatives, other contractors, government inspectors and others accordingly.
- Assist Superintendent with supervising onsite functions (scheduling, sequencing, engineering, material control, safety).
- Assist in preparing weekly “Look Ahead” scheduling, communicating immediate field tasking.
- Ensure all onsite management comply with Project site rules and regulations, Safety program requirements, document all violations, notify project management, and recommend and implement corrective actions as required.
Minimal Qualifications
Education
- High School Diploma
Certification / License
- OSHA 10/OSHA 30-Hour Certification
Work Experience
- Two years of experience in construction and/or craft supervision experience in construction.
- Two years of Data Center experience as a Foreman or craft worker, including experience with the installation of mechanical & electrical system.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
- Experienced with Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Access, Excel, Microsoft Project and PowerPoint as well as Blue Beam.
- Entry level knowledge of applicable building codes and regulations, pertinent governing safety regulations, building trade terminology, and technical aspects of field specialty.
- Experience in preparing, maintaining, and managing all on-site project documentation.
- Organized, analytical self-starter with the ability to problem solve and work independently.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including verbal and written communications.
- Ability to work with diverse groups and create and foster a team approach to the project.
Preferred Job Requirements
Education
- Trade school certificate in Mechanical or Electrical systems.
Compensation
- Constructiv is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The annual salary for this role is $67,700.00 - $84,600.00. This compensation will ultimately be in line with the location in which the position is filled. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate’s relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. This role is eligible for variable compensation including short term and long-term incentives.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion, the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend, or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Up to 80% travel and valid Driver’s License required.
