Nemco Food Equipment is committed to the manufacturing and on-time delivery of these piece parts to the assembly operations with a very experienced staff of metalworkers who can operate a variety of work centers able to machine steel and aluminum into complex parts. The shift work hours are from 9 pm to 5 am. In this job, you will work in a production environment, working with CNC vertical mills, brake presses, laser cutters and Press punches. After an initial training period, productivity and quality requirements must be met. Durations of set-ups and run times will vary. Tasks require an exceptional degree of eye-hand coordination, manual dexterity, and the use of both hands and arms on a repetitive basis for a full range of motion. Machining experience is a must.

In this role, you will have leadership responsibilities for the machining department and be a back-up leader for fabrication. This role is a working lead that will report to the first shift department supervisor. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

Key Responsibilities

  • Shift Lead
  • Maintains staff by orienting, training and developing employee growth opportunities.
  • Coach a team of 6-10 individuals initially that may grow as required by customer demand.
  • Effectively communicate between departments and shifts.
  • Maintains workflow by monitoring the steps of the process, ensuring material flows to the next operation, monitoring personnel and resources and initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departments and shifts.
  • Maintains quality by establishing and enforcing organization standards.
  • Oversee and ensure that production is properly recorded, scrap identified and downtime captured.
  • The ability to identify root causes of problems and work through a solution.
  • Learn and become proficient on all machines and processes you operate on third shift.
  • Maintains safe and clean work environment.
  • Provide feedback on employee performance
  • Material Handling
  • Use material handling equipment to safely and accurately move material to the next operation or storage location.
  • Use the handheld scanner to move parts in the inventory system.
  • Empty Scrap containers using the forklift.
  • Operating Equipment
  • Follow work order routings and properly complete associated paperwork in accordance with set procedures
  • Be able to complete all aspects of job set-up, including selecting the program, calculating and applying offsets, reading a print, measuring the part for conformance and applying any adjustments needed.
  • Be able to troubleshoot for various unsatisfactory conditions with machining a part, including changing tooling, feed and speeds and identifying issues with part holding tooling.
  • Be able to manage tooling inventory.
  • Perform first piece inspect of manufactured parts to meet blue-print specifications and tolerances, and adjust setups accordingly to ensure a quality product is produced
  • Train new operators in the setup and operation of CNC machine as required
  • Train to be proficient on various machines with moderate supervisor and or leader instruction
  • Responsible for communicating to the Supervisor and Team leader all machine related issues (i.e. machine down or damage to equipment) and or part availability
  • Initial training will be on 1st shift and is expected to last about 90 days.

Qualifications

  • Ability to show leadership by instructing, coaching and motivating other employees.
  • Ability to set up and operate machinery.
  • Ability to read blueprints and to follow specific written instructions and procedures.
  • Detail oriented and possess strong time management skills
  • Ability to use measuring tools.
  • Ability to keep workspace clean and organized.
  • Operate forklift safely.
  • Experience as a machine set-up and operator in a production environment preferred.

Physical Requirements

Standing: Most tasks are performed in a standing position with intermittent walking.

Lifting: Frequently lifting items weighing 5 lbs. to 10 lbs.; occasionally lifting items weighing up to 50 lbs.

Walking: Frequent walking short distances (less than 1/8 mile).

Carrying: Occasional carrying of bulky items weighing up to 50 lbs. short distances.

Pushing: Use of manual hand truck and carts to occasionally move skids or parts short distances.

Pulling: Use of manual hand truck and carts to occasionally move skids or parts short distances.

Bending: Occasional bending required to perform a variety of tasks.

Reaching: Frequent reaching to load and unload parts from fixture in machine, tubs, carts, or pallets.

Handling: Frequent handling of parts ranging in weight from 5 lbs. to 10 lbs.

Gripping: Frequent gripping of parts.
