Location: Dallas, TX
Pay Rate: $19.00 per hour
Schedule: Full-Time | Sunday–Saturday (Schedule may vary based on operational needs)

Position Summary

SuiteMate Staffing Solutions is seeking compassionate, dependable, and hardworking individuals for a Medical Animal Keeper position. This role provides essential operational support to the Veterinary/Medical Services team by assisting with animal handling, patient transportation, sanitation, and medical supply management. The ideal candidate enjoys working with animals, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is committed to providing excellent care while maintaining a safe and clean facility.

Essential Job DutiesAnimal Handling & Transportation
  • Safely transport animals between kennels, treatment rooms, surgery, diagnostics, and other designated areas.
  • Assist veterinary staff with safely restraining animals during examinations, treatments, and medical procedures.
  • Follow all animal handling, safety, and welfare procedures to minimize stress and prevent injury.
  • Ensure animals are transported safely and efficiently throughout the facility.
Medical Support
  • Prepare animals for examinations, treatments, and surgical procedures under veterinary staff supervision.
  • Observe animals for signs of illness, injury, or distress and immediately report concerns.
  • Assist with patient flow to support timely medical care.
  • Support veterinary staff with daily medical operations as assigned.
Cleaning & Sanitation
  • Clean, disinfect, and maintain kennels, cages, carriers, treatment areas, and medical equipment.
  • Follow infection-control and biosecurity protocols to reduce the spread of disease.
  • Properly dispose of medical waste according to established procedures.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe medical workspaces.
Supplies & Logistics
  • Stock and organize medical supplies, equipment, and medications.
  • Transport equipment, supplies, and laboratory specimens throughout the facility.
  • Monitor inventory levels and notify supervisors when supplies are low or equipment requires maintenance.
  • Assist with maintaining an organized and efficient medical department.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience working in an animal shelter, veterinary clinic, animal hospital, or similar environment preferred.
  • Comfortable handling animals of various breeds, sizes, temperaments, and medical conditions.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, safety procedures, and sanitation protocols.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  • Passion for animal welfare and compassionate care.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, reach, and perform physical tasks throughout the workday.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, with assistance for heavier animals when necessary.
  • Ability to push and pull carts, cages, and medical equipment.
  • Comfortable working around animals, cleaning chemicals, noise, odors, and potential exposure to zoonotic diseases.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions while maintaining safety standards.
