Senior Traffic Studies / Planning Engineer

Conducting a search for a Senior Traffic Studies / Planning Engineer to join a Transportation team in the Greater Orlando Area.

This is a senior-level opportunity for a Traffic Engineer, Transportation Planning Engineer, or Traffic Studies professional with strong technical expertise, project management capabilities, client relationship skills, and business development experience.

The successful candidate will lead complex traffic studies, transportation planning and analysis, traffic engineering, and safety planning initiatives, while supporting major project pursuits, developing client relationships, and contributing to the continued growth of Stanley Consultants' Transportation practice in Central Florida.

The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of relevant experience, a Florida PE license or the ability to obtain one quickly, and experience in traffic engineering, transportation planning, analysis, and studies. PTOE or RSP certification is strongly valued.

What You'll Do
Traffic Engineering & Transportation Planning
  • Lead and manage traffic studies, transportation planning, traffic analysis, and traffic engineering projects.
  • Provide technical leadership on complex transportation assignments.
  • Develop, review, and present traffic engineering analyses, reports, recommendations, and technical deliverables.
  • Lead transportation safety planning and related initiatives.
  • Apply sound engineering judgment to traffic operations, transportation planning, and infrastructure challenges.
  • Perform technical quality assurance and peer review of project deliverables.
  • Support the development and implementation of engineering standards, policies, and procedures.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • 10+ years of relevant professional experience in traffic engineering, transportation planning, traffic studies, traffic analysis, or a related field.
  • Florida Professional Engineer (PE) license, or the ability to obtain a Florida PE license within a few months.
  • Demonstrated experience leading traffic studies, transportation planning, traffic analysis, or transportation engineering projects.
  • Experience with transportation safety planning or traffic safety initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of traffic engineering and transportation planning principles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and client relationship skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • PTOE (Professional Traffic Operations Engineer) certification.
  • RSP (Road Safety Professional) certification.
  • FDOT experience, including projects, standards, procedures, or client relationships.
  • Experience with traffic impact studies.
  • Experience with traffic operations and intersection analysis.
  • Experience with transportation safety analysis and planning.
  • Experience preparing project scopes, schedules, budgets, and fee proposals.
  • Previous Project Management experience.
  • Demonstrated business development and client relationship management experience.
  • Established relationships with Florida transportation agencies, municipalities, or other public-sector transportation clients.
  • Experience supporting major pursuits, proposals, presentations, and client interviews.
