Job Description Summary:
Are you looking for real-world technical experience in a collaborative and supportive environment? Join the Web Services and Technologies (WST) team within University Technology Services (UTS)! As an IT Technician I – Application Developer you may support WST with application development support, quality assurance, content updates, and enterprise technology initiatives development tasks that improve the University’s digital services for the Villanova community in alignment with the TechNova strategic plan and depending on current needs.
This position is designed for students who want to gain practical hands-on experience with web platforms, technologies and enterprise applications, digital forms, mobile technologies, low-code/no-code tools, and emerging AI-supported work while learning from experienced UTS professionals to deliver impactful solutions for the Villanova community.
Students in this role will develop practical experience with professional communication, service management, quality assurance, documentation, application support, and collaborative problem solving in a higher education technology environment.
Example responsibilities (students may perform work on different tasks, including but not limited to, the following based on departmental needs):
  1. Assist with maintenance and enhancement of the University website and web portal, including content updates and functionality improvements.
  2. Perform quality checks for broken links, spelling errors, and accessibility compliance.
  3. Create and update digital content and assets for end users.
  4. Maintain and organize the Document Asset Management (DAM) repository, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
  5. Support content lifecycle management, including removal, archiving, and migration of assets.
  6. Assist with development and testing of University mobile applications.
  7. Work on integrations and supporting web applications.
  8. Conduct routine audits of mobile application content for permissions, relevancy, and accuracy; resolve broken links and outdated content.
  9. Assist with development and maintenance of low-code/no-code applications.
  10. Work on AI- related initiatives.
  11. Contribute to documentation efforts, including technical guides and process workflows.
  12. Monitor and manage Service Request/Incident queue, ensuring timely updates and resolution.
Requirements:
  • General technical curiosity, comfort learning new systems, knowledge and familiarity with Microsoft Office 365 are required.
  • Interest or experience in one or more of the following areas is helpful: content management systems, customer relationship management platforms, mobile applications, web analytics, enterprise applications, document imaging, digital forms, workflows, integrations, artificial intelligence, or low-code/no-code application development.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Open to both undergraduateUndergraduate and graduateGraduate students; candidates available year-round are preferred.
  • Training will be provided by UTS.
