Location: 100% In Office: Itasca, IL
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–5:30 PM
Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt
Salary: $31.50–$37.00 per hour
OCEANAIR Inc. is seeking an experienced Import Agent III to manage complex international import shipments from origin through final delivery. This role is responsible for shipment coordination, customs documentation, compliance, customer communication, and problem resolution.
The Import Agent III works independently with minimal oversight and serves as a resource to customers, internal teams, carriers, and regulatory agencies. This position also supports junior team members, process improvement, and quoting activities.
Key Responsibilities- Manage complex import shipments from origin through final delivery.
- Coordinate with international agents, carriers, truckers, warehouses, customs brokers, and other logistics partners.
- Prepare and review import documentation, entries, classifications, valuations, and admissibility requirements.
- Ensure compliance with U.S. Customs and Partner Government Agency regulations.
- Monitor shipments, resolve delays and discrepancies, and proactively communicate with customers.
- Communicate with CBP, FDA, USDA, and other regulatory agencies as needed.
- Maintain accurate shipment records in CargoWise and internal systems.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, efficiency, accuracy, and customer service.
- 7+ years of freight forwarding, logistics, or distribution experience with a strong focus on imports.
- Previous customs compliance experience Preferred.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of CargoWise, with CargoWise Professional Certification preferred.
- Strong knowledge of CBP regulations, PGA requirements, tariff classification, and import documentation.
- Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
