Field Engineer in Edmond, Oklahoma at Wichita Tribal Enterprise

Southwind Construction Services LLC, a Quivera Enterprises company, is seeking an experienced Field Engineer to provide onsite technical, construction coordination, field engineering, and project support for commercial, industrial, and federal construction projects.

The Field Engineer supports the Project Superintendent and Project Manager with the coordination and execution of daily field operations, including construction layout, subcontractor coordination, work sequencing, schedule execution, safety compliance, quality control, inspections, field documentation, materials and equipment coordination, and project closeout activities.

This position serves as a key technical resource in the field, reviewing construction drawings, specifications, approved submittals, and field conditions to support accurate and efficient construction execution. The Field Engineer works closely with the Project Superintendent, Project Manager, Quality Control Manager, Site Safety and Health Officer, subcontractors, vendors, Government representatives, and craft personnel to ensure work is performed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and in accordance with contract documents, plans, specifications, quality requirements, and applicable federal construction standards.

• Support the Project Superintendent and Project Manager with the coordination and execution of daily construction activities from mobilization through project closeout.
• Review construction drawings, specifications, approved submittals, shop drawings, and other contract documents to support field activities.
• Assist with construction layout, field measurements, elevations, dimensions, and verification of existing conditions.
• Coordinate company personnel, subcontractors, vendors, materials, equipment, and other resources required to execute field activities.
• Assist with developing and communicating daily and short-term work plans and sequencing activities to maintain the project schedule.
• Support development and maintenance of short-term and three-week look-ahead schedules.
• Review upcoming work to identify manpower, materials, equipment, access, safety, quality, and coordination requirements.
• Monitor daily field progress and communicate potential schedule impacts, delays, conflicts, changed conditions, or resource constraints to project leadership.
• Coordinate field activities among subcontractors and trades to minimize conflicts and maintain efficient workflow.
• Participate in subcontractor coordination meetings, pre-installation meetings, safety meetings, and daily field briefings.
• Verify required materials, equipment, drawings, submittals, personnel, and information are available before scheduled work begins.
• Assist with resolving field conflicts, constructability issues, sequencing challenges, and trade coordination concerns.
• Support project mobilization, site logistics, construction execution, inspections, punch-list activities, and final closeout.

• Read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, specifications, sketches, approved submittals, and shop drawings.
• Perform construction layout using measuring tapes, levels, plumb bobs, laser levels, and other applicable layout instruments.
• Measure and calculate dimensions, elevations, angles, quantities, and material requirements.
• Verify dimensions, elevations, alignments, and existing field conditions before construction or installation.
• Assist with structural layout, construction planning, sequencing, and installation activities.
• Verify completed work for proper alignment, elevation, dimensions, fit, finish, and compliance with project requirements.
• Identify discrepancies between field conditions and contract documents and communicate concerns to project leadership.
• Troubleshoot field conditions and construction issues in coordination with the Superintendent, Project Manager, Quality Control Manager, and applicable trades.
• Assist with reviewing field changes and documenting conditions that may require clarification or additional direction.
• Support preparation of Requests for Information (RFIs) and other technical correspondence related to field conditions.

• Assist project leadership and site safety personnel with implementing and enforcing company, customer, OSHA, EM 385-1-1, and project-specific safety requirements.
• Monitor field activities for unsafe conditions, practices, or behaviors and immediately communicate concerns to the appropriate supervisor or safety representative.
• Assist with ensuring employees and subcontractors utilize required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Participate in daily safety meetings, toolbox talks, Activity Hazard Analysis (AHA) reviews, and pre-task planning.
• Assist with verifying personnel are appropriately trained and qualified for assigned activities and equipment.
• Comply with product labels, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), safety warnings, manufacturer instructions, and applicable safety procedures.
• Assist with maintaining safe access, housekeeping, material storage, and site organization.
• Immediately report incidents, near misses, unsafe conditions, and potential hazards in accordance with project procedures.
• Support corrective actions resulting from safety observations or inspections.

• Assist the Project Superintendent and Quality Control Manager with monitoring construction activities for compliance with contract drawings, specifications, approved submittals, and quality requirements.
• Review work in place to identify deficiencies, incomplete items, or nonconforming work before formal inspections.
• Assist with preparatory, initial, and follow-up phases of construction quality control when required.
• Verify required materials and installations conform to approved plans, specifications, submittals, and manufacturer requirements.
• Coordinate correction of deficiencies, punch-list items, and incomplete work with responsible trades.
• Assist with coordinating inspections and ensuring work areas are prepared for Government, customer, Quality Control, or third-party inspections.
• Monitor corrective work and verify deficiencies are appropriately addressed.
• Support project closeout activities, including punch-list completion, final inspections, as-built documentation, testing, and turnover requirements.
• Maintain Southwind's standards for quality workmanship throughout project execution.

• Assist with preparing and maintaining daily construction reports documenting manpower, subcontractors, equipment, work activities, progress, weather, delays, safety events, and significant project conditions.
• Document field conditions and construction progress through photographs, notes, logs, measurements, and other project records.
• Assist with tracking RFIs, submittals, field changes, deficiencies, punch-list items, and action items.
• Communicate changed conditions, potential scope impacts, schedule concerns, and field discrepancies to the Project Superintendent and Project Manager.
• Maintain current drawings, specifications, approved submittals, and other field documentation.
• Support preparation and maintenance of redline and as-built drawings.
• Maintain accurate field records necessary to support project management, quality control, safety, and contract requirements.
• Assist with documenting delays, unforeseen conditions, subcontractor performance issues, and other significant field events.

• Assist with material handling, staging, deliveries, storage, and inventory activities.
• Coordinate material deliveries, storage locations, staging requirements, and equipment needs to support scheduled field activities.
• Monitor material availability and communicate potential shortages, discrepancies, damage, or delivery issues to project leadership.
• Verify delivered materials against approved submittals, specifications, and project requirements as directed.
• Assist with maintaining materials, equipment, and work areas in a clean, organized, safe, and secure condition.
• Inspect applicable tools and equipment before use and report unsafe or defective equipment.

• Work collaboratively with the Project Superintendent, Project Manager, Quality Control Manager, Site Safety and Health Officer, subcontractors, vendors, craft personnel, and other project stakeholders.
• Communicate field expectations, priorities, sequencing requirements, and project objectives to applicable personnel.
• Promote accountability, teamwork, professionalism, safety, and quality throughout field operations.
• Maintain professional working relationships with clients, vendors, subcontractors, Government representatives, inspectors, and other third parties.
• Participate in customer interactions, inspections, meetings, and field coordination activities.
• Assist with resolving routine field issues and elevate significant concerns to project leadership.
• Perform other duties as assigned in support of project requirements.

• Demonstrated professional experience supporting construction field operations.

• High School Diploma or GED with applicable professional construction or field engineering experience; OR
• Associate or bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
• Previous experience supporting construction field operations, subcontractors, multiple trades, or project management activities is preferred.

• Previous experience as a Field Engineer, Project Engineer, Assistant Superintendent, Construction Coordinator, or similar construction field position.
• Experience supporting federal Government, Department of Defense, USACE, military, industrial, or commercial construction projects.
• Experience coordinating subcontractors, trades, construction schedules, materials, equipment, and daily field operations.
• Experience supporting projects from mobilization through construction and closeout.
• Experience with federal construction quality control requirements.
• Familiarity with the USACE Three-Phase Control process.
• Familiarity with EM 385-1-1 requirements.
• Experience participating in AHAs, preparatory meetings, initial inspections, follow-up inspections, and project safety activities.
• Experience preparing or contributing to daily construction reports, look-ahead schedules, RFIs, submittal tracking, punch lists, and as-built documentation.
• Experience performing construction layout and field verification activities.

This position is primarily performed in active construction environments and may involve indoor and outdoor work under varying weather and environmental conditions. Work may be performed around construction equipment, elevated work areas, uneven terrain, noise, dust, debris, hazardous materials, and other conditions normally associated with active construction sites.

Employees are required to wear appropriate clothing and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and comply with all company, customer, project, OSHA, EM 385-1-1, and applicable federal safety requirements.

The Field Engineer is expected to maintain a regular onsite presence necessary to support field operations. Work schedules may vary based on project requirements and may include early mornings, evenings, overtime, weekends, extended shifts, or travel.
