Description:
This Director of Operations position provides an opportunity to build a successful trucking and transportation operation from its inception. You will build your team and set the standards. Providing direction and guidance for all operational activities of the organization.
This pivotal position strives to maximize growth and profitability while responsibly managing the resources of the company alongside client expectations and policies. You will develop and implement long and short term strategies to achieve financial and growth targets.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Responsible for supporting the Company strategy, ensuring targets are achieved and business needs are also met.
- Plans and budgets financial targets.
- Ensures operational excellence across the business.
- Provides leadership and creates an environment that fosters passion, teamwork and agility within the organization.
- Builds and sustains long-term client relationships. Supports sales initiatives by partnering with key clients and delivering a high level of client focus to business initiatives.
- Spearheads teams and partners with clients to trouble-shoot and solve existing issues or problems.
- Contributes as a key member to the sales and development solutions team in winning key strategic accounts.
- Develops and implements an operations strategy tailored to our clients that identifies opportunities to improve cost control and margin improvement and will lead to organic growth.
- Works collaboratively and establishes solid business relationships with supporting departments including but not limited to: Safety, Recruiting, Sales and Business Development.
Education and/or Experience
- A Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics or equivalent fields is required
- A minimum of 10 years trucking/transportation operations management experience
- Strong understanding of fleet and equipment utilization
- At least 5 years of dispatch and driver management experience
- Proven ability to steer business development projects and initiatives
Other Skills
- Background in transportation associated with the oil & gas industry is preferred.
- Excellent verbal, written and visual/presentation communication skills.
- Ability to motivate and inspire others to achieve.
- Experience in a “client-centric" environment with accountability for both operations metrics and client relations.
- Direct experience preparing budgets and actively participating in financial reviews with a solid understanding of standard and actual cost variances.
- Create, implement and track KPIs.
- Has led high-performing teams. Can recruit, develop and motivate superior talent.
- Possess the ability to motivate and maintain effective working relationships with staff and partners.
