Job Description
Pure Lithium is a disruptive lithium metal battery technology company led by inventor and lithium expert, CEO Emilie Bodoin. The Company's novel Brine to Battery™ technology combines metal extraction and anode production, unlocking unconventional sources of lithium. The resulting pure lithium metal anode is the core component of our lithium metal battery, a step change improvement over today’s lithium-ion technology in cell performance, cost, and safety. The battery is free of graphite, cobalt, nickel, and manganese.
Pure Lithium is currently looking for a hands-on individual to join our team as a Technician to support our R&D department. This role will involve working in a laboratory and glovebox daily. In this role, individuals will work directly with research associates and scientists to support and carry out general lab experiments. In addition to technical experience, this position requires a willingness to learn new tools, methods, and techniques as needed for the job. The technician will be responsible for following standard operating procedures (SOPs) as well as work in a safe manner following all set out laboratory regulations. The ideal candidate is willing to help with any project when needed, is highly proficient with various hand tools, power tools, and equipment. The job will require handling of hazardous materials so prior laboratory experience is highly valued. The candidate must also be prepared to do repetitive tasks with attention to detail to ensure excellent quality control and reproducibility of data.
Responsibilities:
- Work in a laboratory setting with hazardous chemicals (under proper guidance) to carry out tasks.
- Follow daily/weekly schedules and ensure that assigned work is completed on time.
- Communicate with manager(s) routinely to be assigned work.
- Regular maintenance of key equipment and ensure that the lab runs smoothly.
- Handling of data following set out guidelines to ensure it is reported to the correct owners.
- Work with various senior scientists to facilitate multi-week experiments.
- Support with safety, organization, and scale-up efforts of the company
Qualifications:
- 2-year degree preferred but not mandatory.
- 2+ years of experience working as a technician/lab assistant/mechanic or in a similar capacity.
- Willingness to learn new techniques/methods.
- Requires the applicant to follow all set out laboratory procedures and rules to operate in a safe manner.
- Proficiency in performing basic computer tasks, such as using web-based project management software (e.g., Jira, Microsoft Office 365) and managing files.
- Desire to work in the fast-paced, high-energy environment of a start-up company.
- Demonstrated ability to provide creative engineering and materials solutions to unique technical problem
