About the Role:
The Production Manager plays a critical role in overseeing and optimizing the outcome of a well-produced show in a high volume, elevated showroom. This position is responsible for managing production schedules, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and maintaining compliance with safety and quality standards. The Production Manager will lead and motivate production staff, troubleshoot operational issues, and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity as well as work closely with artists and artist teams. They will also manage resource allocation, including labor, materials, and equipment, to meet production targets within budget constraints. Ultimately, the role ensures that products are manufactured on time, within specifications, and aligned with the company’s strategic goals.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a production or manufacturing management role.
- Strong knowledge of production processes, quality control, and safety standards.
- Proficiency in production management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in a relevant field or MBA.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
- Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle.
- Certification in Project Management (PMP) or Production and Inventory Management (CPIM).
- Experience managing production in a multi-shift environment.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and monitor production schedules to meet customer demand and company objectives.
- Supervise and lead production teams, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
- Coordinate with procurement, quality assurance, and maintenance departments to ensure smooth production flow.
- Analyze production data and metrics to identify bottlenecks and implement process improvements.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations within the production area.
- Production Manager: plans, manages, and supervises events, buyouts and productions to ensure
that projects are completed on time and within budget. Some responsibilities include:
Planning: Create production schedules, assess resource needs, and negotiate budgets
with clients and other managers.
Managing and Delegating: Oversee production processes, monitor productivity, and adjust
schedules as needed.
Safety: Ensure the safety of equipment and people at all times. This includes following
safety regulations and best practices.
Documentation: Maintain records of inspections, modifications, and procedures.
Training: Ensure training is continued and changes relayed to those who need it.
Communication: Liaise with other departments, such as Lighting, Wardrobe, Sound, Auto,
and clients, designers and venders.
Supervision: Supervise vendors and service agreements.
Skills:
The Production Manager utilizes strong leadership skills daily to motivate and guide production teams toward meeting operational goals. Analytical skills are essential for interpreting production data, identifying inefficiencies, and implementing process improvements. Communication skills facilitate effective collaboration with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and senior management to ensure alignment and resolve issues. Technical proficiency with production management software and ERP systems supports accurate scheduling, inventory control, and reporting. Additionally, knowledge of safety regulations and quality standards ensures that production activities comply with all legal and company requirements, maintaining a safe and productive work environment.
